We popped up here, a few days before Christmas, and we were very disappointed, I had a turkey Christmas dinner, my partner the belly pork, and my turkey meal was like a uneatable frozen dinner, nothing seemed fresh or cooked well, quiet shocking really. I certainly won't be returning here. I would not have served that kind of meal at... More

I took my mum and dad here for lunch today, we were just passing and decided to drop in and try it. It is a nice looking building with loads of outside seating for warmer months. As soon as we entered we were greeted in a very friendly way by a very nice lady, who we later discovered was one... More

I travelled here as I had business in Malton the next day. Check in was fine, although when I arrived it wasn't clear where the check in was. The room was OK but nothing special - tea and coffee facilities were included but no biscuits. The bathroom wasn't great. It was clean but aging a bit. On sleep quality -... More

Stayed here one night while visiting Eden Camp and other local attractions. Really nice to have the option of a larger family room sleeping 4 with plenty of space for all as many hotels or pubs do not have these larger rooms. Nice choices for the evening meal and a lovely cooked breakfast in the morning. Recommended for a stop... More

Just stayed for one night September 2015, but had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Check in straightforward and the room was lovely. Real pretty place, very clean, with en-suite shower room. The evening meal menu was special and far above expectations for a little pub. Full cooked breakfast in the morning, also very nice. Lovely staff, very enjoyable visit and will... More

Stopped here for two nights on a racing weekend with friends and really enjoyed it.The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast and meals at night were very good but the highlight for us was the amazing staff who were so friendly and welcoming right from the moment we arrived until our departure. This is a great pub with friendly... Proper pub, fairly tasteless in decor and all the better for it. Had beef and ham sandwiches with chips which were great. Beef was cooked rare and was delicious. Crispy chips fluffy on the inside. Home made horseradish sauce. Excellent friendly service by girl behind the bar. Excellent value. Only improvement would have been a better quality ham.

Go there on a Friday and make use of their two fish and chips for £12. Our bill was twenty quid including two pints and two halves of cider - try that in London you city slckers! Friendly pub slightly stuck in the 1970s but that is the charm of Yorkshire. Smallish bar / eatery not really hotel or restaurant... More

I had not realised that I had booked the smaller of two twin rooms and so had intended to enquire about an upgrade on arrival at the hotel only to find that the host had already put us in the larger room as it was available! Comfy bed and hot shower. Breakfast was a real treat. I would recommend eating... More
