Managed to get two rooms here after phoning up on our way down from doing a job in Edinburgh. When we arrived they lovely lady in charge got us to our rooms quickly to drop our bags off then back into the bar area where we sat by the open fire and had a superb meal, price is spot on,... More

Dropped in for lunch and a pint. It's a halfway house for me and an old pal to catch up. The food is consistently good as is the friendly welcome from Carol and staff. As far as gastro pubs are concerned this is about as good as it gets. Well done for maintaining those high values!

Stayed overnight here on journey from Guildford to Preston. Lovely welcome at this warm and homely pub with separate accommodation. No added frills but everything you want/need, done really well and would be good for longer stays too. Stayed in the room allocated for dog owners, with my 2 border collies. Being a cold day it was lovely to walk... More

Went for dinner this evening (Saturday) Took my elderly mother for a treat. I really can't fault the place! We walked in to a warm welcoming atmosphere, we were served promptly and politely by the bar staff and sat by the roaring log fire. We each ordered different meals, all were available, all arrived together after no time at all.... More

My wife and I stayed at The Waggon & Horses for two nights for my friend's wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn. The location for the wedding was spot on, being all of a third of a mile away!! The room we stayed in was basic but spotlessly clean and perfect for our needs. The service of the staff was exceptional.... More

I would imagine the main reason people stay here is they are going to a wedding at sandhole oak barn which is only a 10 minute walk away. I couldn't speak more highly of the staff who were welcoming, the rooms are basic but clean and do the job they were designed for. The highlight of the trip however was... More

Booked on the day for a business trip to Manchester; arrived 6ish, pleasant check in via the bar; nice twin room, recently refurbished. Ate in the bar, good food, ale, log fire, good breakfast. The only issue is the rooms are in an annexe, and all the walls are plasterboard, and the bathrooms use a Saniflo or similar, so you... More

We stayed here, 8 of us, in 3 rooms for my nieces wedding half a mile away. One room was for 3 of us, one for 2 + a 11 month baby (but we had to take our own travel cot) & one for me & my wife. For all there was a kettle there was no coffee or tea... More

We stayed one night here and it was warm and comfortable. The bed was great and lovely homemade sausages for breakfast. A warm welcome and a good budget option. For us at least, preferable to the anonymous travelodge.

Stayed here for a wedding at the barn across the road and we loved it. Great price, friendly and accommodating staff, and the breakfast, my goodness, best sausage I have tasted in years, no joke! They make them on site and it shows, was incredible. 10/10 would visit again, hopefully on their Pie & Pea night!
