Lovely building and happy with room. Unfortunately there was a wedding in which I wish someone had told us on booking. It was an outside marquee with music blasting till midnight! I asked to be moved to a room further away from it but was told they were fully booked. Ate in the bistro (very poor). Breakfast ok. Not much... More

A very pleasant stay. The Hotel is extremely nice, warm and friendly staff, a free room upgrade for our anniversary and in a lovely setting. Very handy for Edinburgh and Edinburgh Airport. Was quite surprised with the Brasserie restaurant in the basement, not in keeping with the rest of the hotel, more like a pub with food. Breakfast was served... More

The hotel is very well positioned for all Edinburgh's sites . It is pleasantly situated in a countryside location and is a true Castle/manor house experience . I would recommend the BISTRO or good quality food.An excellent choice for a country break within reach of the city

Had a 2 course Sunday lunch and a glass of wine with a voucher. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and efficient. The salmon platter and late starters were tasty. The chicken and leek our was divine and the fish and chips were good. We added desserts of cheesecake and a cheese board again both lovely. We will definitely return.

Before I went I read the reports and as usual a mix of opinions, but sometimes it is either too fussy people or those who think they are posh and moan for the sake of it, or genuine views like mine From arrival to departure staff were excellent and could not be more helpful and very friendly We had a... Booked via internet, called to confirm details, staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived much later than planned, this was no problem, again staff were helpful. Plenty of parking, lovely venue, convenient for South Edinburgh, attractive gardens with some chickens and ponies. Beautiful old building. If you want ultra modern brand new decor this may not be for you, but... More

lovely old historic building, that's where it ended. Internally the floor was in need of a good sweep, crumbs had to be removed from our chairs before we could sit down. Staffing issues as only 1 waitress had to deal with all guests. Sandwiches were very basic, cakes and scones were poor and burnt. These obviously had been defrosted as... More
