Stayed for a wedding. Our room was in the roof space and horrible. Two single beds pushed together which were different heights. One bedside table missing. The breakfast was also a buffet which was horrible and with cheap produce. It is very disappointing for a reasonably expensive room. We would definitely not return again.

Stayed at Melville Cadtle for two nights last week. Property is very impressive driving up to it, but once inside things change. Interior is run down. Carpets need replacing. Reminded me of a Holiday Inn. Rooms had no personality- they were large, but sparse furnishings. No attention to detail- there was a room refrigerator but it was not plugged in.... More

What a lovely place ,we went with friends for afternoon tea the waiter John was just what this place needs very friendly and helpful and great personality. On the down side definitely not enough staff bar was not staffed every time anybody wanted a drink you had to look for a member of staff but we all said that the... More

I visited melville castle restaurant earlier this month with my husband. I ordered the venison burger and asked for no blue cheese. The burger arrived with the cheese so I asked for a new one to be served. A few minutes later the same burger was presented with most of the cheese scraped off and turned upside-down. I could clearly... More

Melville Castle is a beautiful estate outside of Edinburgh where I spent two days attending a wedding of my friends. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, although they were a little short staffed during my visit. That led to meeting the lovely senior owner who let me taste some delicious Scottish beer on the house. Many thanks again. My... More

I was extremely disappointed with my visit, I had pre booked with a voucher for afternoon tea and stated clearly on the booking that I had an allergy to cream, on arrival we were seated at a table that was crammed in between two other tables, it was very tight and uncomfortable, I advised our server about my allergy to... A lovely place to stay. On the surface is looks grand and magnificent. Definitely looks the part. The staff couldnt really care less of you were there or not, although our breakfast waiter was lovely. We asked for more blankets and pillows for my pregnant daughter, they never arrived. They need to put comfortable beds and have enough hot water... More

My husband and I drove down the half-mile road that approaches this property, after spending hours on the A-1 driving up from Newcastle, not knowing what to expect. As soon as we turned onto the approach to the Castle, we were magically transformed into another era, another lifetime, and a fairy tale that we will not soon forget. Our room... More

We stayed here last week. The room was a pleasant surprise We booked the room thinking we were getting two twin beds and ended up with a queen bed. The room was large and the bathroom was of good size as well Breakfast was served each morning and although it had the same thing everyday it was very good. The... More

From the moment we arrived (after a long day of travelling) the staff was welcoming and superb. The room was spacious and the grounds were lush and peaceful. We stayed here two nights and wouldn't hesitate to stay again!
