We booked a night at the hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary and arrived on a stunning summer day. The entrance has the wow factor and the young man on reception made us feel very welcome and we were given a room upgrade at no extra cost. The huge room had a beautiful four poster bed, chaise longue, antique style... More

A very nice setting for a night away from home, a secluded castle. The room was simply decorated and plenty big enough. The bed very comfortable and plenty big enough. The food was amazing, I've eaten ice cream that was harder to chew than my beef! Breakfast is self service with plenty of options. Overall a very enjoyable night away

A magnificent setting for a wedding reception. The staff are polite, helpful and friendly. The rooms are all beautifully different. Our family and friends filled the castle, the night before and the night of my daughter's and now son-in-law's wedding. If anyone is planning a wedding, you need JANE, who will help you plan your wedding the way you want... More

Melville Castle is a beautiful building, set back in the countryside about 20 minutes drive from the centre of Edinburgh. The room was very nice and due to the hotel location, quiet. We ate at the Brasserie and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The receptionist was kind and helped us book an online ticket for... More

The road to the hotel is amazing and once through the wooded setting, the hotel is revealed. Generally the hotel's decor is a bit tired and in need of maintenance. Our room was quite nice with a 4 poster bed but the bath & shower were in the bedroom rather than in the bathroom. Getting the water temperature was like... More

A lovely hotel with friendly staff. A nice patio area to the rear of the hotel adjacent to the bar. Good views over the grounds and a nice dinner menu. The rooms are spacious and good amenities within them. The only downside was the buffet breakfast with cooked breakfast in Bain Marie's. Personally I prefer a fresh cooked breakfast. It... More

Stayed for one night on a tour of Scotland. Lovely setting, out in the woods and very pretty. Room spacious and comfortable. Very clean and quiet. Restaurant for dinner, food very good, small portions and unfortunately the service, although polite was terribly slow, had to ask how long our starter was going to be. Didn't seem to be that busy... We had our wedding at Melville Castle - everything there was superlative ! All the wooded surroundings are very beautiful, green, and joyfully colourful, especially in the early summer. The castle itself, as well as each room is a work of art, and very stylish. You feel like a king or a queen, a duke or duchess. Even a short... More

Lovely place. Food was lovely. Was in a classic/basic room. I think if u want something special definitely upgrade. Our bed was a bit hard for our liking both woke up was sore backs. Apart from that, the grounds are beautiful. We had a very sunny day. We are attending a wedding in September so looking forward to it now... More

A fantastic venue for our 30th wedding anniversary. The castle is beautiful grounds wow staff are loverly but a few let downs. 1- house keeping leaves a lot to be desired our room was dirty, towels where not changed, and bed quilt was absolutely filthy. 2- We booked the bistro for a meal which was loverly except the food was...
