You couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting than this hotel. We stayed in one of the self catering loch side apartments, each of which has their own little balcony with a spectacular view of the loch. The apartment itself was spacious and clean but it was the setting that really made it so special. You could literally hop over... more

For anyone wanting a wedding with the onus on relaxed, warm and friendly – the Portsonachan is the place for you. We got married on the 26th of April at St Conans Kirk Church, Dalmally, and had our reception afterwards at the Portsonachan Hotel. I wanted to write this review to let anybody, who may be thinking of having their... more

We booked a double room here in June and on arrival were immediately upgraded to a Loch side apartment… no reason given. However the apartment was wonderful, clean and the views across the Loch were stunning. That im afraid is were the praise ends. Although yes the food was good… must quote another review here “ when we got it”... more

I stayed here last night and can thoroughly recommend this lovely hotel. It is set on the banks of beautiful Loch Awe. The views over the loch to the mountains to the north are spectacular. The suite is well-fitted for self-catering (fridge/freezer, cooker, washing machine, dishwasher) with tv in longe and another upstairs in bedroom. Only 4 terrestrial channels but... more

We booked our stay as a result of a visit to the Ideal Home Exhibition at Earls Court, London in 2007. My friend and I both booked with a view to using this as a break for us and our respective husbands. For various reasons, my friend and her husband were unable to join us, so she used the 'transfer... more

We returned from The Portsonachan Hotel yesterday and I thought I should write a review whilst the feelings are still fresh. Where do I start? What a beautiful hotel in such stunning surroundings. This was our second visit and we were really looking forward to it and weren’t disappointed. The staff were absolutely fantastic, every one of them, and nothing... more

We had booked a family room at the hotel £80 but when we arrived we were allocated the NESS apartment across the road which was simply stunning!!!! and very... more

We arrived at Portsonachan when it was dark and couldn't wait until day light to see the view - Our room was upgraded free of charge to a loch view. Woke up and the view was fantastic. The staff were very accomodating. I'm vegetarian and the menu didn't provide a great variety. My potential moan was met with, "what would... more
