This was our second stay at Melfort House. We came in 2013 and were so impressed we came back this year, and stayed for longer, with two other couples on a Jag car 'rally'. Once again a great stay. The rooms are luxurious, beautifully decorated and specced, with everything you could expect for luxury status, but little 'touches' (like the... More

We booked Melfort House back in January for our unique summer holiday this year-cycle touring through the Scottish Islands. We picked it out because of the fantastic reviews and thought we would treat ourselves to one or two very special places to stay on route. It may sound silly but as an avid planner for holidays we spent ages choosing... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights & loved it. A warm welcome awaits with afternoon tea or, if you are a little late, a gin & tonic in front of the fire sitting on a comfortable sofa with your feet up! Matthew cooked for us on the 2nd night, beautiful home cooking with fresh vegetables from Yvonne's garden.... More

The house is rather grand and Matthew and Yvonne make you feel welcome. The hill room is huge with views of the garden and the hill on 2 sides. The public rooms are also huge with great views of the loch. You eat at a shared dining table - we met some interesting people on the 2 nights we stayed.... More

Although our stay was last year I am sure that this B&B will have gone from strength to strength! We stayed in the loch facing room and the view and bedroom fittings were amazing! Both breakfast and dinner food would not be out of place in almost any B&B!

Stayed 3 nights for my 50th in February. Absolutely gorgeous place! Matthew and Yvonne were so welcoming and helpful. They even very kindly got us tickets for a Scottish National Opera evening at the local village hall. We stayed in the Loch suite and the view is stunning. Lovely big comfortable room, bed and bathroom. Matthew's cooking is fantastic! Locally... More

Just spent 2 days at Melfort and so enjoyed the fantastic food and wonderful warm welcome from Matthew and Yvonne. Everything was so relaxed and rooms are big and really comfortable. The food is amazing and fresh from local suppliers including the Polytunnel in the garden!! Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved or stay at Melfort House, it was so relaxed and calm. The bedroom was amazing, with a big huge bed, cute bathroom, and lush decor. It felt so homely, yet contemporary and fresh. We arrived late, but Matthew stayed up and welcomed us. We were in the area for a friend's wedding, and Melfort House was a... More

Just came back after spending one night at this perfect little place. We arrived to Melfort House later in the evening, and was met by the perfect host, who helped us settle in. And just about 10 minutes after our arrival we were served tea and pancakes by the fire place. In a perfect surrounding. Even though the weather had... More

Whenever I read effusive reviews I often think there must be a catch but having just returned from two nights at Melfort House I can honestly say that all the wonderful reviews are absolutely true and accurate. Although we encountered miserable weather we could still see that the surrounding countryside and the views from the house are amazing. Yvonne and... More
