Both Dave & Jackie made our recent stay at Grindon Farm very special. We were on a trip to the North to delve into some family history, and were so very welcoming and genuinely interested in our quest for knowledge of past ancestors. Our accommodation was bright and spacious - with views far and wide - a real treat to... More

Both my wife and I found this Gem as we wanted to stay West of Newcastle prior to the Great North Run rather than driving up from Wigan on the morning. David and Jackie were really lovely people, welcoming and attentative. They have spent some money on giving the customer all mod cons. Breakfast is wonderful, with relaxing calm views,... More

We stayed here on a couple of days ago and so I wanted to write a review whilst my memory is fresh. Grindon Cartshed can be found approx 1 mile off the Hadrians Route 72, however if you think you have overcome the hills and it is an easy free wheel down to the farm think again. We had no... More

Staying here was a pleasure. Everything from the welcome tea onwards was excellent. The owner, Jackie could not have been more helpful. It's the perfect location from which to explore Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding area. Vindolanda and the Roman Army Museum are only a short drive away. Some great pubs in the local area too. We had a lovely... More

For wheelchair users this is a great place to stay. We were here for two weeks and the facilities were very good and easy to use. Adjustable beds, spacious rooms, excellent cooking and washing facilities; very warm, very clean, very comfortable and welcoming. A hoist can be hired and was there for us when we arrived. My partner is wheelchair-bound... More

We were on our much anticipated hike along Hadrian’s Wall Path, tired and footsore. David and Jackie made us feel welcome and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were wonderful. The rooms were very well appointed and comfortable. In addition to resuming our trek rested and well fed both David and Jackie provided a great deal of local information and insight that... More

Excellent B&B in a side house on a Northumbrian farm. Excellent breakfast, excellent facility, great area, very friendly hosts. Perfect base of operations for trekking the area by car. They also provide a list of things to do and places to eat in the area. Hint: long-term guests can use the kitchen/fridge in the common area of the B&B. More

Grindon Cartshed is a spacious, well appointed and spotlessly presented B&B. Large wet-room walk-in showers off each bedroom have lashings of hot water. Bedrooms and large communal living/breakfast area are contemporary and smart, very different to most B&Bs furnished in 'elderly aunt's inherited furniture' style. The breakfasts are very well provisioned and served with personal and friendly attention. That the... More

We were travelling with family up to Northumberland with a stop off to visit Hadrian's wall. There's a fair choice of B & B's in the surrounding area but on the Web, the pictures and the description of Grindon Cartshed sealed our choice, and as quite discerning travellers, we were not disappointed. This B & B is just minutes away... More
