Stayed here while working local to the area. The rooms were not clean, there was grime on the carpet and floors and the shower was located opposite my room-not the best after a long hard days work to have to drag yourself through a corridor, past other rooms just to have a wash! The water was luke warm at best.... More

We stopped over here on our way through the 72 coast2coast bike ride. The staff are generally very helpful especially the red head. Some of the female bar staff could do with some customer training though! We had a Sunday roast and it was absolutely excellent!!! Top Class. The bar area was large and the drinks flowed. The rooms are... More

From the outside the Anchor looks very tired and in need of a fresh coat of paint. ( dont judge a book its cover) we ( a party of 4 coast2coast bike riders) had booked in for one night and had also booked a table for Sunday lunch even though it would be about 6pm when we arrived. We arrived... More

Booked for 2 and stayed for three. Well looked after with a warm and friendly welcome. Great breakfast and variety of meals for dinner. Great base for exploring this area, set right on the river. Terriffic base for exploring local area and close to railway station.

We stayed in a cottage just outside Haydon Bridge the first week of September 2014 and the first night chanced upon The Anchor looking for some food. Despite the 'shabby' exterior and the fact that they were hosting a wedding reception, the staff made us very welcome and the food was top notch. So much so that we returned a... More

We stayed at this Hotel for 2 nights whilst walking some of Hadrian's wall. The exterior of the Hotel is a bit shabby but the warmth and helpfullness of the staff inside must be difficult to beat in Northumberland. The rooms are a bit dated and in need of some refurbishment but they were clean and comfortable for 2 nights.... More

Stayed for 2 nights, great location. The breakfast is fantastic and really sets you up for the day. We ate both nights ...it was that good!! The best steak I have ever had, perfectly cooked. Staff were so welcoming, great attention to detail. Really comfortable and peaceful nights sleep. Would definitely recommend .

I recently visited for an evening meal with friends and I was absolutely disgusted. The entire pub had a dusty, dull smoke smell to it, dated carpets throughout and sticky dining tables. The toilets had an unkempt, dirty smell which was masked by a pungent air freshener. And that's just the start... Firstly I was shocked by the menu itself,... More

Myself and my boyfriend stayed at The Anchor Hotel over the weekend for 1 night whilst attending a friends wedding on the Saturday and choosing to spend the following day walking - We planned to arrive earlier than check-in with a view to eat before the wedding (with the wedding being a later than usual start we thought we best... Stayed here for 2 nights visiting Hadrians Wall. The room was lovely , recently decorated and spotlessly clean. Modern en suite, comfy bed. The staff were lovely nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was fantastic served at exactly the time we wanted all fresh product. We ate there the second night and the food was really good and beautifully presented... More
