Allthough in mid winter the Anchor is still a lovely place to stay, the staff are excellent, very polite and efficient, we were up for a wedding at Langley Castle, The Anchor is an ideal place to stay, Castle just up the road and the food at the Hotel is excellent.

What a find this place was! I'm in hotels three or more nights a week for work, always try to stay at independent venues rather than soulless Holiday Inns, etc. The Anchor has got to have been the best so far. It's not fancy or luxurious, but homely, welcoming, full of character and very comfortable. Bedrooms are very clean, the... More

I Stopped at the Anchor while travelling on Business within the Area , great location and the Food was what a call proper Traditional Pub Grub -excellent. I am always on email so I needed a strong internet signal strength and even though I was on the Top Floor is was brilliant. I will be staying again in the New... More

Stayed here while working local to the area. The rooms were not clean, there was grime on the carpet and floors and the shower was located opposite my room-not the best after a long hard days work to have to drag yourself through a corridor, past other rooms just to have a wash! The water was luke warm at best.... More

We stopped over here on our way through the 72 coast2coast bike ride. The staff are generally very helpful especially the red head. Some of the female bar staff could do with some customer training though! We had a Sunday roast and it was absolutely excellent!!! Top Class. The bar area was large and the drinks flowed. The rooms are... More

From the outside the Anchor looks very tired and in need of a fresh coat of paint. ( dont judge a book its cover) we ( a party of 4 coast2coast bike riders) had booked in for one night and had also booked a table for Sunday lunch even though it would be about 6pm when we arrived. We arrived... More

Booked for 2 and stayed for three. Well looked after with a warm and friendly welcome. Great breakfast and variety of meals for dinner. Great base for exploring this area, set right on the river. Terriffic base for exploring local area and close to railway station.

We stayed in a cottage just outside Haydon Bridge the first week of September 2014 and the first night chanced upon The Anchor looking for some food. Despite the 'shabby' exterior and the fact that they were hosting a wedding reception, the staff made us very welcome and the food was top notch. So much so that we returned a... More
