Stayed here for one night only as attending a wedding at nearby Langley Castle. Consequently can only comment as a B&B, however it was faultless. everything you need in the room & full English breakfast was superb. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Don't be put off by the recent flooding issues, as it is business as usual and will... More

This is a traditional, local pub which we were delighted to find open and serving food despite their cellar being flooded in a ferocious storm on 5 December. Situated right by the river, warm and cosy inside, the food was fantastic, huge portions, hotpot with fresh veg and massive pasta plate. The possibility of flood water rising to restaurant level... We were recommended this hotel earlier in the year and had some very fine meals, so we decided to stay on our return journey from Edinburgh in November. The welcome we got was as if we were long lost friends and it made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely, very clean and comfortable, and the food was excellent.... More

Looking for food on the A69 and pulled of the main road to see what we could find. Food prices are good, portions are huge so unless you are really hungry miss out on starters. This trip was accidental. Next time will be planned

Entering the hotel via the car park ones first experiences is that everything needs a good clean, with a scattering of cigarette ends and a grubby entrance. This poor first impression had a great impact on me. The room was clean but stark - limited refreshment offer, for example no biscuits, only tea, instant coffee and UHT milk cartons and... More

The hotel was wrongly advertised in Expedia as being in Hexham, whereas it turned out to be in the tiny village of Haydon Bridge 7 miles away with no amenities of any kind. Arriving exhausted late in the afternoon, we felt trapped into taking it as we were afraid we'd be unable to find anything else. The bathroom was not... More

Anchor is a lovely hotel with an AMAZING restaurant. Though it might not appear so at a first glance, you will discover its charm very fast. Location: in a small village. It is a perfect base to explore the Hadrian Wall and the coastal castles on one side and the Lake District on the other. You would have to drive... More

Otherwise I really cannot understand her review. The Anchor is charming and, as they say themselves, quirky. The staff and their careful attention to their guests cannot be faulted. The food is above excellence - delightfully presented, a changing special menu and using fresh local produce. We really enjoyed our stay here and will be back soon. Our room was... More

Stayed for 3 nights and had a super stay! Had dinner twice and each time the food was outstanding in both quality and quantity - lovely fresh fish and sauces to die for. Breakfast - all local produce substantial and very hot - feel there needs to be a fruit /yoghurt option as well as full English variants. Lovely dining... More
