We have frequented the Anchor for decades but not so much recently as we now live in another part of the country. However we have relatives and friends in the area, and when we visit we always seem to have lunch at the Anchor. Food The food is basic but you can have a meal for some £5/8 Menu Quite... More

Recently had a 1920s themed weekend at the Anchor. My sister and I gave Steve and Lyndsey an outline of what we wanted and they sorted everything out. We had a full itinery of events. Champagne and canapés on arrival, an afternoon of murder mystery, pre dinner cocktails at the speakeasy, a delicious three course 20s themed dinner in the... More

Shabby looking from outside, and if we had not booked in advance then we would not have stayed. Once inside the hotel things improved. Room basic. Bathroom basic. Overall though it was okay. Food good, swift! Service! Just don't think the room was value for money.

Stayed here for 2 nights recently and although not much going on in Haydon Bridge, the hotel was very accommodating and friendly. Room slightly small but clean and modern. Staff very friendly and helpful and food was excellent. Only comment I would make is that maybe the restaurant should be made separate from drinking area but overall had an enjoyable... More

We stayed here for one night on our cycling holiday. The hotel has a very long history (as the info-pack in our room told). The hotel sits immediately on the banks of the South Tyne river, very close to the old road bridge (now pedestrianised). On our arrival (drenched after a day of non-stop rain) we were immediately helped to... More

We booked online and website stated that the room had views of the river. This was not what we got. Our room was nothing like the picture online. The picture showed a room with large window overlooking the river, what we got was a room that resembled a prison cell with a tiny, tiny window overlooking the carpark! The heating... More

We really enjoyed every minute of our stay. We were welcomed by the staff and delighted with our cosy and beautifully decorated room. After a stroll around the village we relaxed on the hotel deck overlooking the river and enjoyed a drink. Our evening meal was delicious and breakfast in the morning was fabulous. We'll be back.

The staff of young girls deserve credit for their work hard to make the best of things. The only redeeming feature of this establishment is the substantial breakfast, spoiled by the fact that they had the heating on in the dining room during a heatwave. The whole establishment looks worn out and grimy. We had our evening meal in their... More

Stayed for one night in August. Hotel not much to shout about when enter, however check in at the bar was friendly and was helped quickly to my room. Had a decent sized room which had recently been refurbished, with a nice little ensuite. Was comfortable but had a spider problem as saw about 5 hanging above my bed, from... More
