We arrived Hadrian Lodge late at night, and got a warm welcome by the helpful owner who offered tea and cacao for the children. Very pleasant staff which made us lower our shoulders and relax. The room were decently sized, warm, and with nice landly view. The showertermostat was a bit clumbersome to regulate the temperatur on, but that seemed... More

We were looking for straight forward accommodation where we could relax and socialise and which would act as a good base for walks in the area. We stayed for four nights. This was a really memorable stay for all the best reasons. The hosts, Jim and Vic, are lovely and interesting people who it was a pleasure to meet and... More

Stayed there with 18 friends doing a charity walk on Hadrians Wall. Very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for Jim & Victoria. The hotel was clean and relaxing. You didn't feel like you had to dress up for dinner, which after you have just walked 24 miles was just what you wanted.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the country - loved the sheep, visits from the pheasant, and Scruffie. Jim was more than accommodating to our needs/desires and a delightful conversationist. Rooms are comfortable and downhome. Location was perfect for our plans - to hike along part of Hadrian's Wall and visit Vindolanda. We felt welcomed and like we were part... More

Vic and Jim could not make you more welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and they do everything they can to make your stay comfortable. Ideal for weary travellers with good food on offer in a homely atmosphere.. The pet sheep and pheasants just add to experience!

Really friendly atmosphere and lovely people. Served good hearty food and provided lifts to and from the wall. All you could ask of a walker's lodge. Very good value and just what was needed after a long day's walk.

We took a weekend break to combine work and holiday at the Hadrian's Wall up north. The hotel met every expectation----it was close to the wall and to Hexham, and to the A69 route between Newcastle and Carlisle. Access is easy, and yet the hotel is off the main roads, extremely quiet and in an idyllic setting. It is located... More

Took a break with a party of fourteen in this idyllic setting near Hadrian's wall. At the price we just wanted somewhere clean and cosy to get our heads down. The stay was fantastic with good food, rooms and service that usually costs more. The host couple created such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere we spent both nights at the... More
