my husband and I came across this very quaint, beautiful country pub. We were greeted by a very helpful and friendly young lady on arrival, we had booked for 2 nights. We were escorted to our room which was very spacious fresh and clean. We booked a table for the first night for dinner which was absolutely delicious I had... More

We went for meal sat. 1st Nov.14 to celebrate a birthday. It was totally obvious the waitresses were untrained regarding table service.Bar staff had no basic knowledge of wines. Presentation of food was sub standard, overpriced and unappertising. You eat with your eyes to start with. You are greeted at the front door with a cloud of smoke from smokers crowding... More

We may be classed as long distance regulars! We stay regularly in the local area to the bickford arms since February 2014. We travel 200 miles to the area, Emily, cat, Roy (landlord) and all other staff and local customers are very friendly and welcoming. We had a meal on my birthday , me and other half had steak cooked... More

Nice off the main road pub. (Too) large selection of food all very tasty. Service and reception was very friendly but slow. This maybe the fact that we're used to fast lane living and is much more lax here. Starters 45mins wait. Frozen veg was a big put off but the pie (large) and lamb shank where delicious.

We only had a very brief stay here and chose it for the location as I was spending the day at the BSY Group which is less than half a mile away so for location purposes this was perfect. The pub itself is very warm and welcoming. We arrived at 11pm after a very long drive, which we had notified... More
