On the positive side, the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, there is running hot water, and free wifi is available in the lobby. (The hotel is fairly new.) On the negative side, the bathroom is tiny and the water is just barely hot enough for a shower; the walls between rooms are thin and the buffet breakfast is... More

After spending a few nights in northern remote areas of Laos I was looking forward to a hot shower and nicer rooms here. I was pleasantly surprised to find swan towel art on the bed and working TV, faucet and clean bedding until I went into the shower. Unfortunately the water was lukewarm and was too cold for a full... "Utmost Luxury Hotel in Oudomxay Province" as it calls itself, this hotel is still a pleasant surprise in an otherwise dusty and unintesting city. Oudomxay just happens to be a great starting point for great hilltribe trecking, boats and other adventures. So yes, this place is well worth it's price. Bedrooms are clean, everything works decently well, incllusive free wifi,... More

This is a modern hotel with comfortable rooms. The toilet and shower are in a separate room which is quite small. If you are sitting, you cannot close the door. There is good hot water and pressure and good air conditioning. There is also fairly good (and free) wi-fi. The public market is two blocks away. At night, there is... More

We recently stayed at Charming Lao Hotel. The hotel is comfortable and an excellent value for money. Our room had everything that we needed. The thing that made our stay though was the amazing service and helpfulness of the hotel's general manager. He was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the city. Even prior to our arrival, he went out of... More

We didn't expect too much in Oudomxai, and were very pleased with the hotel. Center of the city, staff helpful. The rooms had everything we needed. We had our meal in the garden with a bit of live music. The food was very tasty. The wifi is a bit unreliable but, the news being what they are, it was restful... More

The person who gave this a terrible review has never traveled outside of Western Europe, this is a great hotel for this area, the manager is very nice and helps all around the hotel. I enjoyed the free massage and the room was really pleasant. I was here before I went trekking and it was the best hotel we found... More

The Charming Lao Hotel in Oudomxay is a blessing for any traveler who is obligated to stay in this dusty and expanding town. The hotel is a beautifully renovated building that espouses the charm of Luang Prabang. The coffee shop is a franchise of the well-known Sinouk coffee chain in Laos. The coffee is very good Lao coffee from the... More

Welcome relief to spend an overnight here. Rooms are large, tea/coffee making facilities, spotlessly clean accommodation and bathroom, lovely welcoming staff, and really good dinner. This has possibly the most comfortable bed and lovely linen in the whole area.
