I flew into Kittilä and the first thing I thought was, wow, Santa does exist. Some of the chics at the airport were rocking red moonboots. Not knowing the area and looking to optimize my chances at seeing this aurora phenomenon, I went with a British-based outfit called The Aurora Zone. Harriniva Holiday Centre was our home base and I... More

We wanted safe nest after hiking tour in Pallas National Park. We had booked for a cabin with private sauna. Check in was fast and we headed for cabin. But instantly we opened its door, we smelled tobacco. Cabin is modest, and there was no tv. Where's the quality? They managed to get us an apartmento room from the main... More

We had a great time on our snowmobile safari. We drove trough Lapland up to the border triangle of Finland, Sweden and Norway. The nature was great and the driving of the snowmobile an experience I won’t miss. Our guide Jani was clearly a local from up there. Everywhere he knows the people and there was no problem he couldn’t... More

I booked the Northern Lights Quest through the Aurora Zone. From start to finish it was seemless. Aurora provided a wonderful service, very informative and well organised. The hotel is, as stated in previous reviews, fairly basic... but you're not there to lounge around the hotel... there are far better things to do outside... even in the cold! :) I... More

We stayed here for four nights on the northern lights quest through aurora zone for our honeymoon, and had a really lovely time. The staff on the front desk were extremely helpful and friendly, and the guides for the activities were knowledgeable and experienced. We upgraded to a sauna suite in the main building, which was basic chalet style decor,... More

Had a four night Northern Lights Quest here. Whole thing was well organised. Met at the airport by Katrina who popped up throughout our trip to check-in which was nice and reassuring. Got our timetable, room key and "Aurora Alarm Device" (good ole Nokia phone that received text messages) on our coach trip to Harriniva from Kittila airport which was... More

Despite not seeing the Northern Lights we had a good time, dog sledging, snow mobiling, ice fishing, rein deer farm and cross country skiing. When not on activities sat in the bar drinking beer at about 6 Euros for a little less than a pint. Reasonable for nordic prices. We all brought with us a bottle or two (scotch, wine,... More

Booked to stay at this hotel via The Aurora Zone which came with a variety of activities included. Hotel is a classic alpine kind of ski hotel, rooms are basic but nice and clean. I'm a vegetarian and all of the meals were perfectly acceptable within the hotel and they were happy to adapt which I know can be a... More

First impressions are very important, so when I arrived at the airport at Kittila i was greeted by the lovely Katriona from Scotland. Good start. Then on to the hotel at Harriniva. Hanna on reception was very helpful and always smiling. Nothing seemed to much trouble. So far so good. Shared a large room with a couple of guys that... More

We did the Northern Lights Quest through The Aurora Zone. The weather was exceptionally cold on our first day making it too cold for the planned activities (we were warned this could happen). We took the opportunity to visit the spa for a massage which was very nice. Thankfully the next day was warmer and we were able to reschedule... More
