First of all it appears that the lodge management has been reading TA as there is now soap in the rooms and a hot water pot. The rooms are small but clean. The shower is the kind with curtains that smell like mildew and the water runs on the bathroom floor. The hot water was barely warm enough. There was... More

What a gem of a place within beautiful surroundings! The wooden chalet was perfect for 4 adults and cleverly designed. We stayed here during the hottest time in summer and the cool breezes were wonderful on the outside deck - just wish the windows opened out as they took up a lot of space downstairs opening into the room! The... More

Our visit had to be re-organised due to bad weather causing the cancellation of our flight from the US. As a result we ended up with a very small room (#7) inside the lodge with very basic facilities that included a shower/toilet (similar to some trains!) and two single beds – however, it was surprisingly comfortable. We were booked into... More

Knowing that my family and I were going to this area, I researched the place a bit, and decided that it seemed fit for my family. We stayed in a lodge (3 adults, 1 child and 1 baby). If you don't mind paying extra for sheets and towels or bringing your own, or cleaning up after you leave, then this... More

We stayed here as part of our trip to visit the northern lights. The owners are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. They helped organise some of our activities, and also inform you of any events that are due to occur in the forthcoming days. The accommodation is very basic,... More

My partner and I booked for three nights at the end of March at the Abisko Mountain Lodge and stayed in one of the cabins, a couple of minutes' walk from the main hotel. After much deliberation we decided to book a cabin to allow us the extra space rather than stay in a room in the main hotel. The... More

We came for a 5 day heli skiing trip and found a very friendly and cozy place. The owners are amazing - super friendly, helping and at the same time they mix and mingle with the guests to exchange how the day went and what the weather will bring the next days. The heli port is right outside. Dog sledding... More

To be fair to the Mountain Lodge, nothing was likely to top our stay at Mattarahkka. That said, the Mountain Lodge had clean, comfy rooms, a good en-suite, and a communal sitting area. The food was excellent, although somewhat minimalistic (I do eat lots though, especially when it's cold out!). The main advantage to staying here is it's location in... More

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of an Aurora Zone package. We hoped to see the Northern Lights and the package also included a number of activities. Is this value for money? I can't answer that. If you want an opportunity to see the Aurora, this package provides it but is still a great holiday even if you... More

We spent 2 nights in Abisko as we really wanted to see the northern lights and apparently it was one of the best locations for that. The rooms at the lodge are very basic but clean and adequate, the bathroom is basically a shower room with a loo and sink, but it's all you need. The arctic wear we were... More
