We stayed at the Charles Cotton hotel in Hartington last weekend for our daughter's wedding, as we were a relatively small party of 50 guests, this hotel suited our requirements. A few gathered at the hotel on Friday evening for an intimate evening meal of close family. On arrival we were taken to our rooms which were light and airy,... More

Stayed here in September for one night. The room was large and spacious but certainly lacked many touches that would warrant the price of the rooms at this hotel. The shower was pathetic and it was very hard to rinse off - i expect a good power shower in a decent hotel. The bathrobes were cheap synthetic fabric and the... More

Wow! what a fabulous weekend we had at the Charles Cotton hotel in beautiful Hartington. It was our first time at this hotel although we had visited the area several times. Throughout our stay we found the staff helpful and attentive and our room was nicely quiet, tastefully furnished and clean. We followed our first long country walk around this... More

We stayed at the Charles Cotton Hotel last weekend as a party of 17 for our daughter’s wedding (the wedding took place elsewhere). We booked the hotel’s standard weekend package for all our guests, which included two nights dinner, bed, and breakfast. On booking, we asked if we could have a reduced rate given that firstly, we were such a... More

Dear Lynn . In response to your interesting review first of all we are sorry that you have had to make your extensive views public all which are in our opinion most unfounded. First of all you stated that you had booked a weekend package but on your confirmation it had been agreed that one night booked was dbb for... More

We ate in the Bistro at the end of a great walk in the area. On entering the hotel, the greeting was friendly despite us still being in our walking kit. We both had excellent meals. The service was quick and friendly (especially Alex!). We will go back.

This was a random pick for a two night stay on our road trip. It was a beautiful place in a charming village with safe parking around the back. The room was delightfully decorated, the breakfast lovely and the bar very warming. The only thing that let it down was that on the second night there was a wedding party.... More

Etched into the glass around the door are signs welcoming walkers, and immediately below are signs asking for muddy boots to be removed. Now that is perfectly fine, but it does rather create an impression that walkers are welcome, just not that much. That is an impression which Is reflected in reality. We arrived fairly soggy after a long days... More

We recently stayed overnight at the Charles Cotton Hotel on their 'Sunday Stopover' deal which was great value. We stopped in room 4 which is the suite and it was a fabulous room with a huge bathroom overlooking the square at the front. We loved looking round the village and enjoyed a couple of drinks sat outside in the sunshine... More

This lovely hotel serves the most amazing food and has a warm welcoming atmosphere . We stayed with our dog who was welcome in the bar area . Also a great walking area . Staff were very helpful and friendly the only down side is that we only stayed for 1 night I could have easily stayed for longer

This is a beautiful location. The hotel is small but friendly. They have music on Friday nights good quality mostly locals but a chance to talk to them and join in. Great evening. Reasonable range of wines and beers and the food was well cooked although service was variable. The hotel has been refurbished but small elements still need attention.... More
