This was the most expensive, but also most exotic stay on our recent 18 day, 8 hotel tour of Nicaragua. It tied for first place in our list of favourites, and would have won the title outright if it had cost a bit less. Accommodation is in 9 lodges cleverly and privately arranged around this compact little island. We have... More

I brought my girlfriend here in January for a five night visit to celebrate her birthday. To be honest I had never considered a trip to Nicaragua before I (so fortunately) stumbled across Jicaro on Groupon. I looked at a few tropical places but what swayed me was Jicaro's consistently amazing reviews on Trip Advisor, as well as doing online... More

Small island, nowhere to go, have to pay extra for everything, drinks are quite expensive . excursions were ridiculously overpriced compared to Granada prices. food was average. staff was good. Beach was super small and very rocky. The available kayaks were few and old. Stay in Granada and take boat tour of the islands. This was a terrible value for... More

We came in December for 3 nights but wished for more! It's a great 'base camp' while exploring neighboring Granada, Mombacho, etc. We also zip-lined and horseback rode, all great adventures. Each morning and evening we experienced their top-notch food. Really fresh, tasty, simply delicious food. My boys fished one day (with hotel staff) from the lake and the chef... More

Dear TSimon05, greetings from the Lake Nicaragua Isletas and Jicaro Island EcoLodge. Thank you for taking the time to write such a flattering review about your recent stay with us. We agree with you that Jicaro is the perfect "base" from where to explore all the attractions and activities that the area around Granada has to offer: the lake, the... More

Jicaro is so good in so many wyas that it is hard to know where to begin. The staff is excellent - very friendly and very efficient. The food is very good and very healthy. The casitas (suites) are beautiful with the only drawback being that the bathroom is on the ground floor and the bedroom is on the second... More

Jicaro Lodge is a small, exceptionally well-managed lodge on an island in Lake Nicaragua. The setting is blissful. Each villa has an uninterrupted vista of the lake. The staff are attentive, and the food is delicious. It is a wonderful place to rest up for a few days, and as a base for exploring Granada and the nearby volcano. The... More

This is the place to go when you want to get away from it all. Great, great food (with an emphasis on vegetarian, it that's what you like), plus chances to kayak, see birds, swim, hike a volcano...The staff will help you do it all.

Whether it is the view across the lake of Mombachu, the exquisitely prepared food from the excellent staff, the historic city of Grenada that is a short boat ride away, or simply melting int your island surroundings, Jicaro has it covered for virtually every type of traveler. We chose Jivaro based on several articles that we read and due its... More

From the moment you step off the boat and are greeted by a smiling staff member with a native refreshing drink, Jicaro is like being home in paradise. The tiny island is beautiful as are the views of Lake Nicaragua, especially at sunset. Your accommodations are a charming 2-level casita with a porch that overlooks the lake - a great... More

My partner and I decided to visit Jicaro because we wanted an ecolodge experience that connected us with the beautiful landscape of Nicaragua. First and foremost, we found the staff to be attentive and thoughtful. They are committed to providing each guest with a satisfying experience and try to address any needs you might have before you know you have... More
