If you want peace, nature, a rural setting, excellent food and wonderful hosts, this place is for you. What a wonderful environment to relax. David and Morwarid really looked after me, arranging pick up from airport, showing me the local sights and helping me organise my onward trip to Hampi and Goa. I stayed in the Gota, the orginal location... More

The Hermitage Guest House is a farm stay on a 45 acre working farm land, surrounded by dense forest. Run by David, Mori and Katrina set amidst The Western Ghats (Sahyadri) a UNESCO World Heritage Site at an altitude of 720 meters. (One of the eight "hottest hotspots" of biological diversity in the world also called the Great Escarpment of... More

The property itself is in the lap of nature. An amazing place to stargaze! Had visited this property in the month of december... A 10 hour drive from mumbai(incl. stopovers). Its an amazing place to take the weekend of. Food was great and in good quantity !!! visiting this place in a group is advised since this area has nothing... More

An adorable family, a gorgeous surrounding, the most impressive peacefulness you could imagine, no network (and almost no electricity), a delicious cuisine, wild animals, only three bungalows, all different and with a special touch (one is a machan, perched in a tree!). An unforgettable experience that really recharged our batteries (but you'll have to deal with your fear of insects!... More

Finally went to this place in Jan 2013 after wanting to go there for a couple of years and it was worth the wait. Its a great place if you dont mind creepies and crawlies but one has to realise that we are encroaching on their habitat. The whole place is done up really well and you cant ask for... More

I am a city person and was persuaded by a friend to go to the Hermitage. I was delighted. The place is in the middle of nowhere and you will need to arrange for someone to collect you. The power goes off regularly and the rooms are basic, but the food, conversation and general ambiance more than makes up for... More

The guesthouse is situated amongst farmland and forest and is several kilometres from the nearest town. The owners have taken a lot of care in the design and maintenance of the rooms and common areas, and it is a lovely spot to relax. We stayed with two kids and they enjoyed the variety of wildlife around (frogs, spiders, snakes and... More

I came across The Hermitage while looking for offbeat places in India and immediately knew I wanted to go there! I'm glad I did. The last 3-4 km leading up to The Hermitage are literally through the forest on a dirt road, with no street lights & no signs - kind of prepping you for what's to come. We stayed... More

My husband and i stayed at the hermitage guest house (45 km from belgaum) in early May 2012. Have to say this one was a real find! While the rest of India was reeling under the summer heat, at the hermitage guest house it felt more like november weather. We chose to stay in the cottage that was fully electrified... More
