Blech. The rooms are massive, I will give it that, but of our choice of 2 rooms, one had a broken window and the other had geckos and spiders. The rooms are dingy and worn. The woman working the front desk when we arrived didn't have our reservation so had us pay $16.00USD (I had booked through Agoda.com). She said... More

This was our first hotel in Laos and we wanted a gentle introduction to the country, so we picked this hotel as it looked very nice from outside. The buildings is lovely and as we were being led to our room I was very impressed by the open guest area furnished with beautiful Lao darkwood items. After that the room... More

We stayed here for 1 night before the gibbon experience. The hotel is 10 meters walk to their office and near 2 bars. The owner is very lovely and help us get around in the dreary town of Huay Xai. We also booked from the hotel tickets to Luang Prabang in cheap price.

Stayed one night only after Mekong river trip. Basic old guesthouse that has seen better days, musty room with pink curtains facing the street. Can probably do much better if you have time and energy to look around but it was the better of 3 places I looked at. Paid 80,000 KIP without breakfast.

We spent 2 nights there : 1 before the gibbon experience and the one after The rooms are clean and very kitchen with pink curtains The AC works well and for 15000Lak (15 eur) for a double room we felt great. The place feels empty because the owners have all the shops at the base of this building, walk in... More

The hotel is situated in the centre of Huay Xai close to the Mekong river and Wat Chom Khao Manilath, but far from the border and the bus station. It's ok for overnight staying before going to Thai or Luang Prabang. Tea and bananas is provided all the day. You can book bus/boat/pickup tickets and exchange money right in the... More

Stayed here for one night after a late arrival. The rooms are old and dirty. The bathrooms are old and uncleaned. The room we had was at the back and smelt like it had not been used for a while. There must be better places to stay. There were also bugs in the bed so bring a sleeping bag.

We made the mistake of booking Thaveenish before we left NZ. Little did we know there are loads of other options close to the Gibbon Experience office, they just don't have websites or reviews on Trip Advisor. When we arrived, the hotel manager could not find our booking reference. After some time he handed us a key and pointed to... More

Close to ferry, close to Gibbon ofice, close to good eat, ATM nearby, clean, air condiotiing in room, view from the balcony of the city and the Mekong River, breakfast on the roof terrace with even better views! I had a good mood, all liked, but the small cons turned a blind eye :) Would recommend to those who go... More

The best thing going for this hotel is its location. 50 m from the immigration point for the crossing to Thailand, next door to BCEL bank & ATM. In the middle of the cafe & shopping strip. My room, 306, was well equipped with TV, (including BBC), air con, exhaust fan, small fridge, hot water shower. Free bottle water &... More
