... who needs to go trekkin' accross the universe when Villa La Grotta is here! Let's get to the nitty gritty. This NOT a hotel. The Villa doesn't advertise itself as such but there is no other category to put the review in (so understand what it is offering). If you want a magnificent setting with splendour, a place to... Such a shame that our stay in a beautiful area was spoiled by the staff at this hotel. Unfortunately when we arrived neither the manager or the owner were around. We were led upstairs in the main building only to be told that there was a mix up and then we were led back down and out to an adjacent... More

We loved our visit to villa la grotta! Vlad and Simone were helpful at every turn - dinner reservations, directions, setting up wine tastings, spa treatments, etc. and they were especially great when I left something behind and they mailed it back to me immediately! Great location in the middle of Tuscany as we drove everywhere within an hour. Centrally... More

After driving from Pisa Airport straight to the hotel we were really looking forward to a nice Sunday lunchtime meal sitting out by the swimming pool and enjoying the Tuscan sunshine. We were encouraged to see three people seated there already enjoying their various dishes. We went to the reception and asked for the Lunch Menu and we were promptly... More

My wife and I love Italy but this was an area we had not visited before but one we will definitely go back to. Make sure you have a sat nav with you as most things are a reasonable drive away but the hotel is in the middle of it all. Up in the hills the scenery is amazing. A... More

Great place to say, centrally located to things we wanted to explore, and great staff, especially the manager, Vlad. Very quiet setting, good traditional Italian breakfasts with great brioches. Vlad was great at making reservations for meals and travel.

The Villa is an hour from Sienna and Florence on some of the poorest lit, and narrowest and twisting roads ever encountered. The drive to the highway in the daytime is beautiful through the Tuscan countryside. Night driving is an adventure. The Villa is a 30 minute drive from the highway, no matter which direction you come from. Unfortunately I... More

Dear Edward First of all thank you for your review and with sadness I read that you didn’t have an excellent stay with us but please allows me to say a few things: The double classic rooms are situated at 3rd floor of the villa and not 4th as you mentioned. When you had booked, in your case (booking.com) on... More

We had a great time staying at the Villa La Grotta. This Villa is absolutely beautiful and convenient for visiting wineries in the Chianti Region. Vlad is the manager and he arranged two wonderful winery visits and provided us great recommendations for dining. Breakfast at the villa was also delightful! We had a great time during our stay not only... More

My Husband and I stayed for five nights from 2nd - 7th October. The drive from Pisa Airport is about one and half hours. An easy drive however GPS helped to locate the villa as signs are easily missed and not well lit up in the dark. We arrived around 6.45pm and when we drove into the driveway, the picturesque... We booked the hotel through Deindiel in Switzerland. We drove from Livorno to Tuscany. We arrived very late but due to the great organisation, Vlad left the key for us so that we could still get in. Vlad was so helpful and it felt like being at home. The area is perfect, not far from Sienna, Florence, Luca and Pisa.... More
