What a marvelous time we had a Castello di Gargonza. I had a group of 44 adults who spent four nights at the castle while on our Autumn in Tuscany tour. What an incredible expereince for sure! Each couple had a unique room or suite with the most amazing ambiance. Just walking around the castle and grounds and visiting each... More

Dear friend, it was a pleasure to have you just a couple of weeks ago with your lovely group. I am very happy you have enjoyed the stay with us and especially said from you who made 76 trips to Europe! I am glad everything worked out well. Gargonza was a community of farmers until the 1950's and so Gargonza... More

Imagine staying in a castle that englobes a whole medieval village on a hilltop in Tuscany, just midway between Siena and Arezzo. Where the owner makes you feel confortable every time you come home after exploring the myriad of small cities around you. We stayed 4 nights at room Luisa and it was unique: from the breakfast with fresh bakeries... More

Dear friends thank you very very much for this review. Since the first emails I received from you, I saw that you would be the right couple for Gargonza. Thank you very much for your appreciation you transmitted us during your stay. I hope you had good sightseeing in Siena and Arezzo where Gargonza is located in the middle. We... More

Originally built in the Middle Ages, this bed and breakfast gives you a brief glimpse of what life may have been like. While the hotel is clean and offers the essential needs, don't expect all the modern conveniences like TV. Great experience. One we will long remember.

Dear Dennis, thank you very much for your comments on Gargonza. It's origins are truly from the 13th century with the tower, the sienese entrance portal and the church. Dante Alighieri, the famous poet, found refuge while escaping from Florence to reach the Pope in Rome. NO TV in the room but only one in the common area is available... More

Dear Julie, thank you very much for your stay at Gargonza for Anya's and Neil's wedding. We have enjoyed very much having you and very happy you had a great family reunion for Anya's wedding. Thank you very much for all your compliments on our kitchen. We have struggled a bit to keep only one management between rooms and restaurant... More

We have just enjoyed a perfect weekend at Gargonza for our daughter's wedding (late September). The organisation was great and the setting magical. The food for the pre-wedding dinner, the wedding meal itself and the Sunday lunch was amazing and we will find it hard to replicate anywhere else. Anyone contemplating a destination wedding could not go past this venue.... More

We stayed here for two nights in October. Overall, we loved it and will consider staying again, though maybe under different circumstances. Pros: We really loved the grounds. This place delivers on the "castle dream" experience without going into the overly kitsch. Be prepared for a mini-town of narrow stone passages and walls. You are spoiled for choice of beautiful... Dear guest, thank you very much for your review which is very well written and gives a great explanation on highs and lows. We apreciate greatly the fact that we are not a kitch place and this is very important for us. We have been very keen in keeping the authenticity of the village and very happy to pursue this... More

My husband and I came across this castle hotel on our honeymoon and thought at the time what a great place it would be to stay, especially for kids. So when we planned to take our 9 year old son on a tour of Italy this summer Castello di Gargonza was definitely on the list! It was still an impressive... More

Fabulous decor, the castle is very tastefully renovated the grounds are impeccably looked after, the food although unpretentious is wonderful and the staff could not offer you a warmer welcome. Quite steep hills to walk around and to access the pool, not a problem for most but best to be aware for the less able to walk. We had an... More

I was lucky enough to be able to attend a wedding there, of course the location was spectacular, the pictures speak for themselves; the food was outstanding. But I wanted to put in a good word for the staff, they were incredibly helpful and responsive. They were even able to squeeze me in for a hairdressing appointment the day of... More

We spent a week here with a Stanford University Alumni Travel group of 21. Our daughter, her husband and two grandsons, 10 and 12, were with us. Gargonza was our base for exploring Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano, and Arezzo. Cortona is also nearby. The restored village has enormous charm and character and you can easily spend an hour or two just... More
