5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Our stay here was a highlight of our entire stay in New Zealand. The property is amazing and has been finished exquisitely, with a magnificent view over fields below out to the sea and mountains in the distance. The attention to detail is extraordinary and John & Scott really have thought about everything and then a bit more. We stayed... More

John and Scott are great hosts and the property is beatifully furnished and maintained. The views from the house and cottage are breathtaking. We stayed in The Cottage which was full of thoughtful touches that made our visit perfect. Our only regret was that we had only two nights to enjoy our stay!

Thank you for your thoughtful review and compliments on our Cottage – we certainly understand that staying only two nights does not seem long enough! There is so much to see and do in the sunny Nelson region – and it can be difficult to work out a holiday itinerary, which includes just sitting back and enjoying the view, if... More

Stayed here over New Year's (at same time as Holly M) in room in house with ensuite and gorgeous view. You can see the stars, or use the blackout curtains. There is even a see-through shade screen to reduce heat gain and not block the view. John and Scott are THE best hosts, who think of everything that will make... More

Thank you very much for your enthusiastic review. We couldn’t agree more about a memorable New Year’s Eve dinner, as both John & I had a great time with you both and the other guests who were staying. And it was lucky that you saw the rainbows, as it is not all that often we see them – so the... More

We stayed 4 nights in the Cottage. After a hectic couple of weeks with lots of driving, it was a perfect place to relax for a few days. The Cottage is better equipped than most houses and so it's very easy to cook there, especially in summer when the produce in the local area is fantastic. We loved 5pm ball... More

Thank you for your lovely review, and especially your compliment about how well equipped our Cottage is. You are right about summer being a great time to visit this area as you can buy lots of home-grown produce, like cherries, berries, fruit & vegetables, at roadside stands, and bring it back to our Cottage to prepare a super fresh tasty... Scott and John are excellent hosts and embody what B & B 's are all about. We stayed in the cottage, a private little chalet adjacent to the main house. It is modern and has breathtaking views and ranks amongst the best we have stayed at. Fully recommended. Brian and Teresa

Currently staying at Awatea for four nights, in the cottage. Agree wholeheartedly with all previous reviews about attention to detail. We are a romantic 72 and 70 and this place hits the spot. The views, the accommodation and the hosts, all perfect. You will not regret booking here. I know I sound like a plant but we are a couple... More

Stayed at Awatea for 2 nights over New Year's Eve. Stayed in one of the rooms within the house, no en-suite but a dedicated bathroom right next door. A lovely home from home experience, made to feel very welcome by John, Scott and their lovely little dog Molly. The house has the most wonderful views and is in a gorgeous... More

Thank you for a wonderful review Holly – we are so glad that you made the most of the time you were staying with us by walking part of the beautiful Abel Tasman Coastal Walk (and fording the rising Torrent River) despite the inclement weather. All the more satisfying when you got to jump into our outdoor hot tub. We... More

The Awatea is a dream come true. So dreamy, in fact, that my daughter wanted to move in and never leave. Every detail has been thought of carefully by John and Scott, and every inch finished with loving and luxurious care. we were in The Cottage, which had self catering facilities. From the high end espresso coffee maker, for which... More

Thank you for your lovely review and endorsing our Cottage so wholeheartedly. Awatea was, without doubt, one of the best places we stayed during our 3 week visit to the South Island of New Zealand. It is a comfortable, modern and well designed house which has an incredible view over Tasman Bay to Nelson and the Western fringes of the Marlborough sounds. The location is a perfect base for trips into the... More

While I feel somewhat reticent to broadcast this secret, I feel compelled to acknowledge the hard work of B&B owners John & Scott and why I have recently acquired the title of 'most frequent customer'. Thank you for your wonderful review, Steve. As always, it was a pleasure to host you for another visit.
