The Awatea is a dream come true. So dreamy, in fact, that my daughter wanted to move in and never leave. Every detail has been thought of carefully by John and Scott, and every inch finished with loving and luxurious care. we were in The Cottage, which had self catering facilities. From the high end espresso coffee maker, for which... More

Thank you for your lovely review and endorsing our Cottage so wholeheartedly. We have to agree that summer is a wonderful time of the year, especially as our gardens are producing so many strawberries and vegetables – it is great that we got to share them with you and your daughter. And we hope that you’ll come back again soon... More

Awatea was, without doubt, one of the best places we stayed during our 3 week visit to the South Island of New Zealand. It is a comfortable, modern and well designed house which has an incredible view over Tasman Bay to Nelson and the Western fringes of the Marlborough sounds. The location is a perfect base for trips into the... More

Thanks so much for your kind review, we enjoyed your visit and the breakfast chats. It’s sometimes easy to forget that we have two world famous sites nearby, Abel Tasman National Park and the Motueka River, thanks for mentioning them. We look forward to seeing you on your next trip to New Zealand. More

While I feel somewhat reticent to broadcast this secret, I feel compelled to acknowledge the hard work of B&B owners John & Scott and why I have recently acquired the title of 'most frequent customer'. Having visited Awatea six times over the last few years -and already planning my return visit in the Spring- this premium B&B in the beautiful... More

Thank you for your wonderful review, Steve. As always, it was a pleasure to host you for another visit. Yes, the views over the valley below are quite stunning even in the winter, with its different colours and textures. It’s good that you are able to see and appreciate the evolution of our landscaping which has occurred over the years... More

My partner planned the best trip to New Zealand’s south island. The Awatea Tasman Bay was perfectly located for our day trips to Wineries, Abel Tasman Park, and local towns around the area. While we had a fair amount of rain, the area had been in a drought, the three tropical storms that came through the region helped them out... More

Dear Keith and Maulik, Many thanks for your glowing review – we’re happy that despite the unseasonal and unexpected storms that happened to hit while you were here, you were still able to experience some nice sunny days to explore the Abel Tasman National Park – definitely a national (and natural) treasure. Travel well, John & Scott. More

Scott & John are such charming, gracious, helpful and friendly hosts. Two of us stayed in the perfectly appointed cottage and one of us stayed in the lovely Bay View Room for 4 nights. From the time of our booking, Scott & John provided helpful tips to exploring the beautiful Abel Tasman area and were quick and thorough in responding... More

What a magnificent review – thank you Laura! We enjoyed the time you were here and are very happy that you did too. We also appreciated your helpful thoughts on local places we haven’t yet been to, such as the WOW museum in Nelson (now on our must visit list), and places we like to recommend. Thank you also for... My husband & I had the pleasure of staying in the cottage for 3 nights after driving around the South Island for 2 weeks. What a great place to unwind from all that driving & sight seeing. We didn't leave the first day at all, just happy to relax in such a nice environment. We BBQ'ed on the deck, sat... More

We are really pleased that you enjoyed relaxing in our Cottage and taking a soak in our outdoor spa pool. And thank you for your nice review and the great conversation over breakfast in the sunshine. The all-natural timber construction of our Cottage and Bed & Breakfast can sometimes make some noises at night that people may not be used... More

I have stayed in many vacation rentals around the world and this one is hands down THE BEST of the Best. From the moment you drive up and notice the whimsical road signs on the driveway I was impressed. Then at the top of the drive we found the carefully manicured parking spaces. The cottage has all the boxes checked.... More

Thank you for such high praise and noticing the little extra details that helped make your stay in our Cottage such a delight. We, like you, have travelled extensively and always try to pick up on what makes staying in a place enjoyable, and then we apply those ideas to our own accommodation when we can. And we couldn’t agree... More

We stayed for 4 nights in the cottage, breathtaking views, great charm and comfort. This is the best cottage we have ever stayed in- and we are well travelled. Thank you for your lovely review and for staying with us in our charming and comfortable Cottage! Yes we agree, four nights, or three full days, is hardly enough time to explore our stunning area, just as you experienced; one or two day walks in Abel Tasman National Park then maybe a walk from Flora Hut to Arthur’s Hut in... My wife and I were fortunate enough to stay 3 nights at the Awatea Tasman Bay B&B in January 2014 and our visit was just perfect. John and Scott made us feel at home and treated us royally. It is such a relaxing place - the hot tub was the best we've tried (and we have been in a few this trip). We walked a fair stretch of the Abel Tasman and this proved to be a good base to do it from. John and Scott... More

What great advice – a good long soak in our outdoor hot tub really helps to rejuvenate tired legs after a full day walk along the Abel Tasman Coastal Track – especially the extra long route you chose to do!
