We went to Awatea Tasman Bay and it was a great and lovely experience. The hosts where extremely friendly and provided us with great intel about neighbouring locations as well as regions lying further down our road trip through New Zealand which turned out to be great suggestions. The location itself lies on top of a quiet hill with a... More

We are so glad you enjoyed staying with us, and thank you for your lovely review! We agree with you about being in a good location for excursions into the Abel Tasman National Park, as you can easily catch a water taxi from Kaiteriteri (about a 20-minute drive from our place) for a day walk in the park, or join... We stayed 2 nights in the amazing cottage and didn't want to leave! John and Scott have built the most beautiful home and cottage with exquisite taste in every respect. It sits high on a hill overlooking the valley and Tasman Bay and has tons of big windows, sliding glass doors and balconies to take advantage of the landscape. It's... More

Wow, we love your review – thank you! We built our Cottage and B&B to take advantage of the amazing view and then made sure that our rooms have everything we could think of that someone staying might need. So thank you for noticing our attention to detail. And it is always a pleasure to share herbs & vegetables from... More

Our 3 day stay in the cottage was the highlight of our New Zealand vacation. The cottage is spacious, filled with windows and light, and impeccably furnished. And the view of the ocean and river is amazing. John and Scott prepare great meals utilizing fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden and make you feel like family, The accommodations are... More

What a kind and thoughtful review – thank you. We couldn’t agree more with you about our Cottage being a comfortable place to admire the view of Tasman Bay, the Motueka River, and the surrounding orchards and mountains. And you can do it while relaxing inside the light-filled living space or sitting on one of the decks outside. Thanks also... More

We stayed here in janauari 2015, ideal location to visit the Abel Tasman National park, we went sea-kayaking there, when we came back John and Scott had prepared the hot tub/jacuzzi, which was great... Thank you for the great review Philip, we did enjoy meeting you both and were so glad that you got to explore the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park – and just as you mention, we think our outdoor hot tub is a perfect way to relax tired muscles after a day of sea kayaking! Also, as you have touched on,... More

My husband and I had the most wonderful two nights stay here on our vacation. The house has glass all around and is filled with sunlight, is tastefully maintained, and has breathtaking views. John and Scott are so friendly and attentive to details, such as bringing us water and chocolate each night and making sure we had all the relevant... More

What a wonderful review – thank you! We did enjoy hosting you both in our Bed & Breakfast and especially the evening meal we all shared with the other guests, sitting out on our deck enjoying the sunset. Thank you too for pointing out the amazing view that can be enjoyed from just about every room in our house and... More

Our stay here was a highlight of our entire stay in New Zealand. The property is amazing and has been finished exquisitely, with a magnificent view over fields below out to the sea and mountains in the distance. The attention to detail is extraordinary and John & Scott really have thought about everything and then a bit more. We stayed... More

We’re so happy you had a great time at Awatea; we too enjoyed the BBQ we all had together, and the weather certainly played its part in making a great evening, too. You were right about needing more time here – there’s so much to do in the area, that’s why we recommend spending a minimum of three days in... More

John and Scott are great hosts and the property is beatifully furnished and maintained. The views from the house and cottage are breathtaking. We stayed in The Cottage which was full of thoughtful touches that made our visit perfect. Our only regret was that we had only two nights to enjoy our stay!

Thank you for your thoughtful review and compliments on our Cottage – we certainly understand that staying only two nights does not seem long enough! There is so much to see and do in the sunny Nelson region – and it can be difficult to work out a holiday itinerary, which includes just sitting back and enjoying the view, if... More

Stayed here over New Year's (at same time as Holly M) in room in house with ensuite and gorgeous view. You can see the stars, or use the blackout curtains. There is even a see-through shade screen to reduce heat gain and not block the view. John and Scott are THE best hosts, who think of everything that will make... More

Thank you very much for your enthusiastic review. We stayed 4 nights in the Cottage. After a hectic couple of weeks with lots of driving, it was a perfect place to relax for a few days. The Cottage is better equipped than most houses and so it's very easy to cook there, especially in summer when the produce in the local area is fantastic. We loved 5pm ball... More

Thank you for your lovely review, and especially your compliment about how well equipped our Cottage is. You are right about summer being a great time to visit this area as you can buy lots of home-grown produce, like cherries, berries, fruit & vegetables, at roadside stands, and bring it back to our Cottage to prepare a super fresh tasty... Scott and John are excellent hosts and embody what B & B 's are all about. We stayed in the cottage, a private little chalet adjacent to the main house. It is modern and has breathtaking views and ranks amongst the best we have stayed at. Fully recommended. Brian and Teresa
