This was my first time in a back packers for years, and it was a really good experience. I had a single room with it's own bathroom, but the dorms and shared facilities looked good and well positioned. I liked that it was not too noisy. The communal areas were comfortable and clean, with good kitchen facilities. I got the... More

My wife and I stayed in a private room in the hostel in December 2014. The rooms were basic but the price was right. We used this as a base for our first two nights hiking Abel Tasman Accommodations - Decent size room. Good size bathroom. Everything was clean, but very basic. Wifi was not free. no meals were included... More

Located across the street from the i-Site and the bus stop, this hostel offers super convenience. High Street, Motueka's main street is just a block away so there are shops for every need nearby. Our room was a double en suite, large, comfy. Our hosts were helpful and friendly, too. This is a perfect base for exploring the Abel Tasman... More

My 14 year old son and I stayed at this hostel for 1 night in February between buses.. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and clean. The showers were small, but also clean. The kitchen had some good pots and pans and a few sharp knives. There were plenty of plates, silverware, and cups. The... More

If you're looking for a cosy and warm hostel experience, this ISN'T the hostel for you. It's all good.. Nice bedrooms.. Good kitchen.. But it just hasn't got that special feel. If you're just looking for a roof over your head, hat trick lodge will certainly do the 'trick'.. But one time for me, so no hat trick ;) prices... More

Genuinely friendly owners, informative and personable. Comfortable lounge, clean kitchen, showers with power and warm beds. Excellent location, just across from the i-site office in the centre of town, which is also the transport hub.

Good Location, Nice deal.Kicthen is not that good. There is no enough seasonings like salt etc. Because it's the center of the town so it's quite noisy at night. Most people stay here for travel to Abel Tasmen because the bos stop is just on the other side of the hostel.

On my trip around the South Island this was as far north as I stayed over night. I do like good hotels but on this trip I wanted to sample all types on offer.... and I did, more than once as well. I had been on the road in my rented Toyota Surf for about a week and Motueka was... More
