This is onne real nice contemporary Lodge near Nelson - a great scenic drive from Nelson. Next to a stream, the lodge is not even connected to the grid - all the power used is generated by themselves hydroelectric and solar. Fantastic views from the lodge, amazing architecture.

Nestled into the hillside with beautiful scenery. Not another dwelling in sight, just majestic hills, trees, bush and river. Very relaxing, you don't even have to know anything about fishing! Great meals and company, lovely place. It's isolated and you could be there on your own but probably not - it is a Lodge. Lots to see in the district... More

My wife and I began our New Zealand vacation at the Stonefly Lodge, It was truly a hard act to follow. You can start with the pristine setting overlooking the Motueka River, To the story of the construction utilizing local on site materials, To eco friendly self contained ( they generate the own electricity utilizing wind, water and solar) existence.... "My son and I chose Stonefly Lodge for our New Zealand fly fishing trip in April of 2015. Simply put - this place is magnificent. Five star in every category. The owners/hosts, John and Kate Kerr are true professionals in the field of hospitality. The impressive lodge, situated above the bank of the Motueka River, is thoughtfully appointed and extremely... Kate and John are just amazing couple who built and manage this very comfortable and environmentally friendly modern lodge. I spent four nights and enjoyed their hospitality and excellent cooking by Dean. I caught several big brown trout including 10 pound monster brown trout with the help of very supportive and competent fishing guides. Highly recommended for any fly fishermen... More

My friend and I spent three wonderful nights here in November on our 35 day trip in New Zealand. It was by far the most unique lodge of our trip., and neither one of us are fly fishermen. Kate and John Kerr are the most gracious, warm hosts imaginable. We spent our mealtime at one large table set for up... More

We spent three nights with John &Kate Kerr at their outstanding lodge, and cannot say enough about how extrordinary every aspect was! We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to share our... More

Our November 2014 trip to Stonefly Lodge was our third in five years. We simply love this place and cannot imagine going anywhere else. The accommodations, food, service, and hosts are the best we've experienced. The fishing guides and helicopter pilots are excellent, friendly, and simply fun to spend time with. We came here to fly-fish but there is so... More

I recommend this lodge to anyone. I visited it for the first time in November 2014 on the advice of my brother in law, a Wyoming-based fly-fishing guide. It is now my favorite of several lodges I've stayed at over several trips to New Zealand (both north and south island). I am an avid (but not exceptional) fly fisher-woman and... More
