Kate and John are just amazing couple who built and manage this very comfortable and environmentally friendly modern lodge. I spent four nights and enjoyed their hospitality and excellent cooking by Dean. I caught several big brown trout including 10 pound monster brown trout with the help of very supportive and competent fishing guides. Highly recommended for any fly fishermen... More

The Stonefly Lodge is a very special, warm and inviting place providing exceptional personal service by the owners, John and Kate, comfortable ensuite accommodations, fantastic fine dining composed of local organic ingredients and remarkable travel experiences like world class fly fishing, sight-seeing or local shopping. All four of the rooms are warm and inviting with comfy beds with nice linens,... More

My friend and I spent three wonderful nights here in November on our 35 day trip in New Zealand. It was by far the most unique lodge of our trip., and neither one of us are fly fishermen. Kate and John Kerr are the most gracious, warm hosts imaginable. We spent our mealtime at one large table set for up... More

We spent three nights with John &Kate Kerr at their outstanding lodge, and cannot say enough about how extrordinary every aspect was! This intimate lodge offers world class luxury blended with a spectacular setting and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure! Our focus was fly fishing and hiking, and both were first rate! We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to share our... More

Our November 2014 trip to Stonefly Lodge was our third in five years. We simply love this place and cannot imagine going anywhere else. The accommodations, food, service, and hosts are the best we've experienced. The fishing guides and helicopter pilots are excellent, friendly, and simply fun to spend time with. We came here to fly-fish but there is so... More

I recommend this lodge to anyone. I visited it for the first time in November 2014 on the advice of my brother in law, a Wyoming-based fly-fishing guide. It is now my favorite of several lodges I've stayed at over several trips to New Zealand (both north and south island). I am an avid (but not exceptional) fly fisher-woman and... More

John and Kate are great hosts, the rooms are warm and cozy and the food is excellent. We fished, visited Abel Tasman and rested playing bridge and reading. The lodge is eco-friendly and very comfortable.

Stayed 3 nights at the beginning of February 2014. The first day my husband went fly fishing with a guide and had a fabulous time. It was gloriously sunny and I wandered down amongst the alpacca and goats to the river where I read, painted and went swimming. The second day we walked part of the Abel Tasman coastal path,... Stayed here for 2 nites in Jan 2014 with wife and daughter. Lodge is outstanding as are hosts John and Kate. Went fishing one day (did ok but guide Steve was great) while girls toured the countryside per advice from John and Kate. We all looked forward to evening drinks and dinner with good company. Chef Dean was innovative and... More
