We went to Thu Ha and was told by the lady who was the owner/manager that our room was $12. The room was filthy, never cleaned, air con only worked 50% of the time but chose to stay as we thought $12 was reasonable. We were never greeted over our 4 days with a hello, good morning or even a... More

Although the view from the room was impressive, upon closer inspection the room was unclean (hairs in sheets, buildup of dirt behind cupboards, toilet that blocks and unblocks itself) and not what you'd expect, despite the low cost. None of the staff spoke English and their demeanour was very cold and unhelpful. During our two night stay, our room wasn't... More

The hotel has a great location and I highly suggest getting a room with a sea view it is quite spectacular. The price can be reasonably negotiated, however a few things of note: 1) only one staff member speaks any English and she is very pregnant so I am not sure how great communication will be if she isn't there... Upon arrival at hotel sheets were dirty, as well as the dirtiest bath mat I have ever seen. The view of the sea from the room was good. Stayed there 6 nights, and the room was not cleaned at all. Some black mold present in the bathroom. Only one staff speaks some english. Cat Ba is a nice area, but... More

Thu Ha Hotel does not inspire too much confidence on your arrival, but it is in fact one of the better offerings in the island for affordable accommodations. Some English is spoken by one member of the staff. Bay-front rooms do not have balconies, but provide air-conditioning, amenities, and television with some foreign channels. They do not provide water and... More

This hotel is clean and comfortable. This is just a place to sleep so it is ok. We had 2 rooms, one front sea (amazing view) which was big enough but toilets had problems. The second one had no windows, and the smell inside was terrible, but no problems with the toilets, just the shower. SO we had one room... More

After a slight mix up, where I accidentally checked us into a truly awful hotel, we moved to Thu Ha, and thank god we did. The owner had been out touting for business when we arrived on the bus, and it was to her hotel that I intended to go, as she seemed really nice. We were welcomed warmly by... More

Pros: • Rooms with a perfect sea view • Twin beds available • Clean & luminous rooms • Cheap (9$ for a double with view) Cons: • Charmless (like all the other hotels in Cat Ba town…) Conclusions: If you just want a nice place to sleep without too many esthetic exigences, go for it.

Recommend by Mr Tung (Cat Ba Ventures), we spent a night in this hotel. We traveled direct to Cat Ba from Sapa and were very exhausted so we needed to nap for a while to charge up for the activities a day ahead. The lady boss did give us a seaview room but b'cos its next door was having renovation,... More

We stayed here for 1 night and although it was very cheap 10$ a night (breakfast not included), great location, good wifi and lovely view, it had a few problems. I'm not sure if this is a problem in general In catba but the room was covered in ants. They were everywhere and even in the bed. There was also... More
