We arrived at Le Canard on a cold December night to be greeted with a warm welcome, a roaring log fire and beautiful Christmas decorations. We enjoyed an exquisite dinner which Kathy had prepared with fresh produce from Martin's potager. We stayed in the West Indies room which has possibly the comfiest bed we've ever slept in. Kathy and Martin... More

We have stayed twice with Martin, Kathy and Ruby, this year . Having charged, madly through France on our way South for the past 20 years. This year we have suddenly found a reason to do so more sedately. Martin and Kathy are the PERFECT hosts. Added to that the joy of knowing, as you set off from the ferry,... More

Le Canard isn't just a place to spend a night on the way to/from your destination- it's one of the highlights of the whole holiday! We have spent a night or two with Kathy and Martin for the past five summers and every time we are made to feel so welcome. From the moment we arrive we are treated like... More

Fantastic B and B if you are planning a trip through France and like us need a half way stop over. Kathy & Martin share their wonderful home and offer a great place to stay. Warmly treated to a special hello from their dog Ruby on arrival. Great rooms, with really comfortable beds, beautifully decorated. Do take the chance to... More

We stayed here after a days driving from Dover and what a treat it was. We were exhausted but our host, Martin and Kathy were incredibly welcoming and we immediately relaxed with a large pot of tea. This B & B is a gem. We were fed a fantastic four course evening dinner along with other guests and the wine... More

OK - we partly picked it because of the quirky name, but we really felt we hit the jackpot on meeting Kathy and Martin. Their kind of hospitality and the lovely home they own is the reason we choose B&Bs. What can be nicer than being greeted cordially at the door in spite of arriving much earlier than expected, enjoying... More

On our arrival we were treated to a warm welcome from Martin, Kathy and Ruby (the dog) and a welcome cup of tea. We stayed in the 'seaside' room it was small but beautiful! A soft plumpy bed and the room was decorated with great style!. But 'Dinner' was amazing, Martin and kathy are great hosts I felt I had... More

We stayed with martin and Kathy on our way down and back to the south of France, we could not find the place at first so my other half rang martin to find out where they are, she came off the phone saying he was taking the mickey out of my Wiltshire accent, we found the place WOW! and Martin... Our family stayed here for just a night as a stop on the drive south from Paris and it made a stopover into a wonderful adventure. From being met at the door by the wonderfully friendly couple who run the B&B to a pleasant dinner chatting with other travellers, this was such a nice evening. The kids (aged 1 1/2... More

In 1990 we stayed at a wonderful country house hotel in Bradford Upon Avon, which was wonderfully personable and very special. We have never since found anywhere which we would hail as on a par, or equally as special. Le Canard au Parapluie Rouge is the first place that we can honestly say is just as memorable and just as...
