A warm and friendly pub. Rooms are in a separate building directly opposite with own parking. Spotless, lovely comfy bed, nice decor and fab shower, even have a docking station. For £60 (this doesn't include breakfast) it has everything you need and more. Breakfast is optional at £7.50 per person but I would highly recommend as the service and food... More

Stayed here coming from Devils bridge in Abergavenny and on our way to Coventry. My husband had stayed here a few weeks before when working in the area and liked it a lot. So decided to take me there too on our little weekend away. I was very impressed with the pub welcoming with a huge coal fire and comfortable... More

I stayed three nights at the end of January 2014 through work. On arrival I was pleased to see ample parking. I was greeted by a very polite lady behind the bar and after signing in I was shown to my room.....a twin ensuite room. I was very pleasantly suprised with the size and cleanliness of the room. The room... More

Stayed for 3 nights between xmas & new year using 2 rooms for our family of 5. Found it by chance but had a really enjoyable stay. Accommodation, particularly the family room, was spacious & clean. Pub was cosy & atmospheric. Food was very good with good size portions & reasonably priced. Staff were all very friendly & helpful. Would... More

I stayed at The Boar's Head for two nights during cycling break in the Shropshire Hills in December 2013. The place is all that one might expect in an English Country Inn. Good, warm beds, terrific food in terrific quantities, some good beer and cider and a pleasingly economical wine list! The staff are welcoming, accommodating (sic) and exceptionally friendly.... I eat at The Boars quite frequently, sometimes socially and sometimes with business acquaintances, the Staff are always very welcoming and friendly and bend over backwards to help you. The food is always freshly prepared and whenever possible fresh and sourced locally and very reasonably priced, and the businessmen I take there are always very complimentary about the presentation, service and... I have now had the occasion to eat here for lunch five times since April whilst needing to be in Bishops Castle for the day. The staff are always friendly when you walk in, there is usually an open fire and each time I have eaten delicious freshly prepared and well presented food. The real ales are also good especially the... At first glance this pub seems suitable for families, they have a childrens menu and when we arrived, the landlord seemed to be happy to have kids in his pub. Unfortunately this all changed as soon as my two year old began to squeal a little. We had only just arrived and hadn't yet been given our food and he... More

We didn't,t stay here but happened to find it for lunch, so glad we did, the food was very tasty and it was a pleasure to eat, the salad garnish was lovely and fresh, not the usual wilted lettuce and bit of tomato, the service was very good, would definitely recommend it if you are in the area.
