I was torn between giving a 3 or 4 star rating and went with 4 because the food is good and eventually we got a decent room. In the past we have always stayed in the main building and the rooms have always had an efficient air con system. This time however the air con was non existent and we... More

At first it wasn't so easy to find as the old Logis signs seem to have been replaced by hard to see much smaller ones so you miss the hairpin junction on the D67/D11. Maybe in keeping with the village ethos? It is a modern building high above the village and strangely the rooms are below the reception level as... More

Well-located for visiting the Aube. Built in that scary-ugly modern-French design style but it is dramatically located on a hill overlooking the town. Rooms were clean and good. One note, they gave me the number of rooms I requested but for some reason they claimed that they did not have enough beds for all the adults traveling with me so... More

We had stayed at Les Canotiers in 2006 for a family wedding in the village and had then found the manager pretentious and rude. The new management team is a huge improvement - very welcoming, very helpful. Quite a different and delightful experience. Nevertheless, it remains very mixed. Dinner was delicious and breakfast extremely reasonable for 10 euros - much... More

We stayed at Hotel Des Canotiers earlier this year and enjoyed it so much made a return visit, especially for dinner in the hotel restaurant which was superb on our first visit. However the hotel seems to have changed management and our dining experience on this occasion was a disaster, the service was so appallingly slow that we spent 3.25... More

This hotel needs an entry as a restaurant as well as a hotel – it’s excellent, out-and-out five stars. The restaurant would get a very rare ‘one of my best meals ever’ from me. The standard of cuisine is very high, so worth a visit if you are in the area. The set menus are excellent value – but like... More

We stayed for one night on our way south from Coquelles. It needs quite a detour off the autoroute so is not as convenient as Hotel Val Moret, Magnant which was full that night. Even so it's a pretty drive and we found the hotel with its imposing position overlooking Essoyes. The pool was not in use (it was too... More

We have now stayed here four times and have not been disappointed. It is great for an overnight stop off the Autoroute but there is so much to see and do in the surrounding Champagne region that a longer sojourn is viable. The village of Essoyes and the Renoir connection should not be missed. The rooms are fine with views... More

Splendid hotel situation overlooking Essoyes. Modern, clean and professionally staffed. An excellent breakfast, reasonably priced. The drinks were all overpriced and the non alcoholic cocktail was a joke. I would stay again but France is really getting very pricy, hope the French can afford to holiday in their own country.

This is lovely. It is about 20 minutes along narrow little roads from the autoroute but well worth it. The hotel is modern and looks out over Essoyes, where Renoir had a holiday home. The staff are very nice and very French, so do not expect any English to be spoken. If you do actually speak some French, they try... More
