My wife and I wanted a weekend away in The Yorkshire Dales, and Ben our golden retriever was to come along too. I searched the Net for a small hotel/pub accommodation that accepted Ben too, I found The Black Horse in Grassington. I sent an email asking if they were ok with Ben coming and it wasn't a problem, he was... More

Taken here by a friend for lunch for my birthday....staff were very friendly and welcomng, I was able to take my dog (who was treated very well despite being badly behaved!) and they were really dog friendly. Ordered from main menu and food was lovely, very well cooked and presented. Dessert was glorious. Nice quaint pub in a lovely village.

We stayed overnight at the Black Horse during the Grassington Festival and really enjoyed the whole experience. The hotel is ideally located, near, but not in the Square and our twin room (room 5) was pleasingly quiet at night. Whilst not large, our room was perfectly adequate, with comfortable beds and a good bathroom. Everything was very clean, apart from... More

You're going to struggle to find a bad pub in the Yorkshire Dales, and this place is no exception. Cozy pub, clean and comfortable rooms, decent value, and delicious breakfast. More than happy to recommend the place.

We stayed here with friends the last weekend in May and enjoyed every minute of our weekend, the staff were friendly, polite and very hands on and couldnt do enough for us. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy and the showers hot, a perfect nights sleep after the drive over there. We ate at the Black Horse Hotel... More

Loved my 2 night stay, thanks to a very hands-on owner John and a very helpful Matt. My room was most comfortable, clean and quiet. Liked the little writing table. An alarm clock would be helpful, though now I've learnt to bring my own. Perfect poached eggs for breakfast and I even got my hot chocolate. Perfectly located and I... More

My friends and I stayed here on the first night of our 'Way of The Roses' cycling trip. We stayed in the 'Hostel' room as we really just needed somewhere to get our heads down and needed to try keep costs down where possible. The room was okay, but exactly what you'd expect really - it's one room to house... More

Thanks for your review, albeit you appear to be downbeat even about the things you liked. I must comment about "what you'd expect". If you've been in a bunk or hostel elsewhere, did you get en-suite? Rarely I'd suggest. And tea/coffee and your own Freeview TV? From what I've been told, No. Towels and toiletries? Almost never. And toothpaste if... More

Another good stay at the Black Horse. We chose a room at the back (because it is quieter). The breakfast was very good. Right in the centre near the main square - one of the 3 or 4 local pubs in the village.

Thank you for the nice comments. The score perturbs me, we clearly need to improve to increase that. All comments are welcome from guests, we can only get better with detailed feedback. We look forward to your next visit. John More

Stayed here after buying a groupon deal. The owner kindly extended the date so we could stay at a date to suit us. Lovely old hotel, beams everywhere..so homely. We stayed in the room with the four poster bed and it was just so pretty. Decor in bedroom nice, new bathroom with bath. Beautiful soft bed and duck feather quilt..slept... More

And thank YOU for the generous comments. We always aim for full satisfaction, and mostly provide it. When we miss my staff are always upset, so we try hard not to! Thanks again, especially as a lot of the Groupon visitors seemed to be self-appointed hotel inspectors on the cheap. Some, however, like you were appreciative and charming. Thanks again. More

Just stayed for the weekend at the Black Horse with a party of 18 to celebrate a Golden Wedding , John the owner could not have been more helpful and did everything he could to make us all feel welcome and comfortable. As John has just taken on a new local chef the food was fantastic the steak cooked to... More
