We enjoyed a lovely family meal here last Sunday lunchtime after having been disappointed at another local hostelry. Warm, friendly atmosphere with tasty, well cooked and presented food at very reasonable prices. The bar area is welcoming and family friendly (high chair provided with a smile!), and the staff provided a very good level of service despite the lunchtime rush. Would... More

Over the years we have been regular visitors to Kilchoan and the surrounding area as relatives and friends live there - however this was our first stay at Sonachan. While the reasons for our two night stay were personal and sad the stay itself cannot be rated highly enough! The family room with en-suite was spacious, comfortable and very clean.... More

We stayed 3 nights and had a brilliant time. The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean. The food was extremely good and exellent full scottish breakfast. the staff are friendly and welcoming, with a very laid back relaxed west highland way. This place is a must stay and well worth the long journey, with spectacular scenery and beaches.

Everything we needed for a very enjoyable one night stay, food was good and the staff friendly, surrounding beaches are amazing and the lighthouse was well worth a visit, worth while just for the drive there

We were almost giving up on getting fed, let alone well, when we arrived at the Sonachan with no expectations at all. What a surprise to find a comfortable and inviting bar, music playing, and to get a light but tasty lunch - this was especially appreciated as we watched lightning and torrential rain just moments after arriving. The Sonachan... More

Stayed for 3 nights from 27-30 September in Room 3 at a cost of £210 b and b. On arrival it was surprising that the friendly staff member didn't know how long we had booked to stay. Our first impression was that our room needed a thorough clean. For example, there were stains on the walls, carpet and a damp... More

Have visited this hotel over several years and the recent makeover does the biz. The food is of top quality especially the produce from the garden. Yes, things take a time to shake down and some smaller things need correcting e.g. the hot water. Yes the bottled beer is expensive, but this hotel is in a very remote spot -... More

We stopped off at the Sonachan Hotel after a slightly wet mountain bike ride, hoping to at least find somewhere we could dry off a little. What we stumbled across was a very welcoming bar, with a gorgeous roaring fire, comfy leather sofas and a fantastic range of local bottled ales. Suffice to say, several hours later and having sampled... More

Whilst staying in the area, we drove along the road where the Sonachan Hotel is situated. We were lured in by the sign outside which promised "home baking". On entering there were no staff to be found anywhere and a sign saying that non residents could only sit in the top area of the bar which was littered with tables... More
