I really do not like the rating system for this type of place. Its rural Tibet for goodness sake. We stopped here on our way back from EBC. We rejected our original guest house due to communal hole in the floor toilets. These good people put 12 of us up at a moments notice. Yes the hot water is sporadic,... More

We hadn't planned staying here but landslides changed our itinerary and our tour operator managed to book here. No high expectations but pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is basic but just consider it's in a remote location in a region that lacks modern infrastructure at the best of times. There was no heating but plenty of clean blankets, the food was... We stayed there two nights as part of our visit to Mt. Everest Base Camp. The hotel is dirty, no running hot water (and cold water doesn't run all the time) - if you want hot water, you boil it in a kettle. Found dead cockroaches behind bathroom door. Room was not cleaned between first and second day. No heat... More

No heat, no hot water, sticky carpets, broken furniture, torn curtains, earwigs in the bathtub (not a problem since we had no hot water). Bed linens seemed clean but we brought our own sleeping sheets anyway. On the plus side, food was OK. Also views from the front of the compound were spectacular. Our proximity to Everest was great and... More

We stayed at a couple of different places in town and this was really the worst. It is an easy 10 mins walk out of town with nice views over the mountains. The place is really rundown and dirty, pretty gross, I would say. Did not dare taking my shoes off, or using their towels. It is also very loud... More

Never sure how to rate more basic hotels. This one does not deserve a "star" rating, but we were comfortable enough. The rooms were much nicer inside than you would think looking at the building, which looked like a 40-yr old Tibetan industrial building. The en suite bath had hot water, but not much water pressure. Beds were typical Chinese... More

This hotel is extremely basic, which is to be expected considering it is one of the most remote locations on the planet. Don't come to rural Tibet expecting first world comforts. You will need your own sleeping bag and hand sanitizer. When the pipes freeze in old Tingri, there won't even be cold running water, let alone hot water. But... More

This place is a hoot. No, really! What would you expect in the middle of Tibet, a Hilton? For some reason it reminded me of the old "motor courts" that existed in the western US back in the 40's & 50's. Ok it's VERY basic. The Snow Leopard was chosen by our World Expeditions tour guide so we went with... More

driving though old Tingri we were concerned as to where we would be staying the night as the The town is pretty dismal so we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the gate leading into a "coral " type courtyard. A number of basic rooms facing into the yard. The locks on the doors required great patience The beds... More

This very offside hotel, or should I say as it real name is, Everest Snow Leopard Guest House, is a cozy place with all hotel standard measures. It could be difficult to reach since it is located in Tibet, but if you in to a visit to MtEverest Tourist Base Camp, this is a good start. All rooms has their... More
