This hotel was part of the hotels booked in a tour in Tibet, so we didn't choose it. After reading the opinions in Trip Advisor I was terrified…but I have to say that the experience wasn't bad. It was just OK. We were there in August, so we didn't experience the freezing cold that other contributors mention. We had hot... More

Well, to find a decent hotel in this deserted town is huge luck in itself. If don't expect a moon here, you can be satisfied with the sky. The hotel is kept neat and clean with good furniture and some food to eat. Rooms are not well equipped to help guests in the fierce winter. The hotel thinks that thick... More

we were told this was one of the best in New Tingri ..I would hate to see the worse! a huge disjointed hotel with no redeeming factors. Our bedrooms were way down a very long passageway carpeted in old red carpeting threadbare or lifting in places. our bedroom smelt mouldy and appeared to have been unused for a very long... More

This is for everest hotel near base camp, rooms reasonable but no heat and cold. I used sleeping bag and provided blankets, water bottle with hot water and my clothes and it was passable. No showers, one squat toilet for each sex upstairs, restaurant upstairs, good view of everest. Not much choice here but ok for one cold night.

A group of friends and I stayed at this hotel for one night after arriving from Everest Base Camp. This hotel is quite big and has a large assortment of rooms that are very different from each other. Our travel agency arranged for us to stay in the newly opened wing of the hotel. When we arrived to check in,... More

We stayed at this hotel in New Tingri / Shegar overnight on the way to Rongbuk / Everest Base Camp from Shigatse. It was very average but probably the best available in this small town. No heating, so be prepared as it was quite cold in early May ... snow overnight. We slept in our sleeping bags as we were... More

There seems to be some confusion amongst the reviews/photos below: some seem to be for the Qomalongma (Everest) Hotel in Shegar town with much going on around it, and some seem to be for the Everest Hotel/Guest House at Everest Base Camp isolated way up in the mountains with nothing around it.! These are two DIFFERENT places, many miles apart.... More

The only thing going for this hotel is the location! The Chinese need to upgrade their facilities. The open pit toilet down the hall had me wearing my neck gaiter as a gas mask! The rooms are large, and with no heat, this is not a plus. Since there is no running water, heat or amenities, I question how often... More

This hotel combines the worst: No heating, no isolation... at night we had minus 20 degrees! No running water and therefore no shower or warm water either. The worst for me was the fact that our bedding did not get washed since the last guest "enjoyed" his stay in this room! Should your travel agent ever force you to stay... More

This is the worst hotel we stayed in our Tibet trip. Location- Not that there is anything to see or do in New Tingri, but the hotel was outside the main street. Reception-was very rude. Breakfast-Terrible, not only was the quality very poor, they took the food from another table that was not eaten and placed it on ours. We... More
