The only thing going for this hotel is the location! The Chinese need to upgrade their facilities. The open pit toilet down the hall had me wearing my neck gaiter as a gas mask! The rooms are large, and with no heat, this is not a plus. Since there is no running water, heat or amenities, I question how often... More

This hotel combines the worst: No heating, no isolation... at night we had minus 20 degrees! No running water and therefore no shower or warm water either. The worst for me was the fact that our bedding did not get washed since the last guest "enjoyed" his stay in this room! Should your travel agent ever force you to stay... More

This is the worst hotel we stayed in our Tibet trip. Location- Not that there is anything to see or do in New Tingri, but the hotel was outside the main street. Reception-was very rude. Breakfast-Terrible, not only was the quality very poor, they took the food from another table that was not eaten and placed it on ours. We... More

We stayed here as part of an arranged tour throughout Tibet. The hotel is of course very basic as perhaps expected, but is certainly adequate for those on a trip towards the Himalayas. The beds were comfy enough and a basic breakfast was provided in the morning. There is a bar in the hotel as well as a restaurant (we... More

We were not expecting much from this hotel (which, confusingly, goes by three different names, but all refer to the same mountain). The booking company had warned us before we left Shanghai that we should really lower our expectations for accommodations and restaurants all over Tibet, and especially so in a little burg like Tingri where options are extremely limited.... This was probably the best place available around Tingri. It’s not much but at least the rooms in the newer wing (near the gate) had running hot water albeit quite gritty and not available all night. We were told the ones in the main building did not. The rooms itself was clean and the bedding smelled and felt freshly laundered... More

Decent, clean rooms. They have quite a nice store in the lobby. Friendly staff. I did not like food at the restaurant. Tomato soup had a strange smell and fried cabbage was inedible, breakfast also was not very good. Overall this is an average hotel but it seems to be the best choice in the area.

Endured staying at the Tingri Qomolangma (Everest Hotel). This place is at 14,400 feet above sea level, and they have no heat! Imagine staying on top of Pikes Peak or Mount Evans without and type of heat! Space heaters, radiators, any form of heater is forbidden. Little or no hot water, you are lucky if it is luke warm. 4... There is some confusion with this hotel on Trip Advisor, it is more commonly known as the Qomolangma Hotel, Shegar. We had 2 nights here, before and after visiting EBC.It is a more comfortable choice than Rongbok Monastery or the Yak camp at EBC but not much.It could be much better but the usual complete lack of maintainance is apparent. We refused... I spent one night at this hotel as it is on the way to Everest Base Camp. My visit took place in early December during low season where the temperature was below freezing. I was one of a handful of other tourist staying here along with our respective private drivers and guides. The rooms were adequately comfortable; however, we were... More
