An enjoyable evening and delicious supper of fish, chips and mushy peas devoured by our party of 4. The menu offered more sophisticated dishes but we all agreed our choice was cooked to perfection. Breakfast proved to be of an equal standard with everything freshly cooked. Rooms were spotless and the bed comfortable, only small issue concerned the hot water... More

Thank you for your review, and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at The George....whilst we were full the night you stayed, we cannot explain the hot water issue as the vast majority of the rooms were single occupancy. More

It is always a pleasure to revisit The George. We stayed recently with our family to celebrate a family birthday. The staff are very friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The menu is very varied and the food is delicious. Our rooms were all very comfortable with very comfy beds. It is situated in the heart of... More

Warm welcome on a cold weekend. The room was very clean and spacious and the heating was on. The decor fresh and pleasing although furnishings a little quaint and bed was not the most comfortable. The food in the restaurant was good and the staff very pleasant. It met all my expectations of the accommodation and I would visit again.... More

Had a pre- Christmas lunch in this clean tidy if not trendy venue. Ordered the well priced beef baguette and were offered an additional bowl of soup for just an extra pound. The amount of beef was tremendous and so so tender. A very inexpensive and most enjoyable lunch. Will be back when in the area.

We were able to stay for 5 days over the Christmas period which was very convenient as we were visiting our daughter and her family who live in the town. We were accommodated in one of their comfortable motel rooms which had private parking and allowed us to come and go as we pleased. Very good breakfast on first and... More

We are pleased we were able to act as overflow accommodation on a room only basis over Christmas, at a time of year when the hotel's bedrooms are customarily closed. More

Called in on a very cold and wet Sunday evening. Friendly greeting from the staff. The curried cauliflower soup is excellent. Good quality fish, chips and mushy peas. The fish pie was excellent. Friendly staff and value for money meals Highly recommend restaurant

We stopped off with friends for refreshments after watching the hunt set off on Boxing Day . The place was exceptionally busy, however everyone received a warm and friendly welcome. The teas and coffees were served with beautiful shortbread biscuits and the place lived up to our expectations.

We were looking for a two day pre Christmas break in this area. About two years before we had visited Easingwold and enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the George. So, on the back of that, we booked this year to stay there for two evenings. Firstly an efficient and friendly welcome. Then a lovely room overlooking the market square.... More

Thank you for taking the time to write your lengthy review. The George has to live up to this critique! Just one point of clarification for potential guests - breakfast is served between 0800 and 0930. More

stayed in this small market town about 14miles from York. A good base to explore the area . The hotel is slightly dated but overall was good value for money . The staff are very friendly and helpful. Bar prices are a bit on the high side and seating area soon gets full

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. 18th century buildings do tend to appear "dated" compared to purpose built boxes; but do have the character and characters that new build cannot achieve. We do not consider our bar prices to be excessive, and obviously neither do our customers. More
