There are so many stories about palaces and ghosts. At Casa da Ínsua, this beautiful palace dating from the 18th Century, with an impressive baroque façade and lovely gardens, we didn't find any ghosts ... but, despite being a "trés charmant" hotel, it lacks a soul, a humanized identity. We found the staff cold and distant from guests, what should... More

This was one of the best places that we stayed on our 3-week road trip through Spain and Portugal. Well worth having to drive a little out of our way. We arrived after dark and were very wet and tired. The room was such a delight! Huge (two rooms) with a large bathroom. Clean and modern. Comfortable beds. We ate... More

Stayed in the last weekend for a wedding in the hotel. The hotel is great for resting and enjoy of the spaces available. The restaurant is very nice with an excellent quality of food and wine (the wine is made here). The staff are always available when requested.

We stayed here last Autumn for a couple of nights as a short break from a longer stay at our property in the West of Portugal. My husband had stumbled across the Casa da Insua on a visit to the Dao region earlier in the year and was adamant we should go back to stay. It was a great choice.... More

My sister picked this place to organize her wedding. Se could not have done a better choice. The place is amazing and the service was top class. From the ceremony to the end of the night, the staff was dedicated to us making this day memorable for all the guests. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful gardens, comfortable rooms. Excellent, helpful staff. Very good food at the restaurant. Very good locally-produced wine. The perfect place to spend a few relaxing days. Do I need to say that I strongly recommend it? One thing is for sure: we will be back!

This is a beautiful hotel, lovingly restored, with stunning gardens. It was like staying in a museum - some of the rooms had original furniture in them, and some of the old kitchen and implements are still there. The staff were a joy and the service very good. The food, accompanied by their own wine, was extremely good and well... More

This hotel proved a wonderful discovery in a quiet and relatively unknown location north of Viseu. The main building is an 18th century mansion owned by a wealthy family who continue to operate the estate, producing amongst other things their own excellent wine and olive oil. The rooms are of good size, very clean and comfortable with good bathrooms. Service... More
