I stayed here at the end of July and it was fantastic. Pierre was very welcoming and is an excellent cook. The location down a winding road by the coast is about as remote as you can imagine. The rooms were modern and well designed. Breakfast was made to order with fresh croissants which you could smell baking when you... More

I took my mum to burrastow house in july 2015 and we both loved it. pierre is a great, very welcoming guy, he made something quite remarkable out of this place but most of all, he puts a lot of love and soul into it which is more than you can ask for. pierre is a very good cook, when... More

I love Burrastow. It is in a fantastic location with lots of superb walking nearby. The beds are so comfortable that I actually looked at the label on the mattress so I could buy one of the same make. The one downside is that the fabric of the building could do with some maintenance. We found the food to be delicious... More

After hiring a car at Sumbrugh Airport, we made our way to this wonderful Guest House. It is at the end of a long and winding road and it is well worth the effort of the long drive from the airport. We were greeted by Pierre and after being shown our superb room (which was almost a suite) in the... More

Fabulous location and excellent food. Our room was in the main building so was old fashioned but that was all part of the experience. Pierre is a great chef using local ingredients and cooking them beautifully. Perfect place to stay to explore the main part of the Shetlands.

Dont be put off by first impressions the outside could so with a lick of paint but the rooms we stayed in were modern with very comfortable beds. The food is outstanding, no choice but all courses on... More

I stopped for a meal with a group and maybe it was just me but I came away with a feeling I'd been taken for a gigantic ride. Overcooked food which was served cold and had to be sent back to be warmed up and no choice of menu. You'll have what you're given !! I've had much better food... More

If you like "out of the way" even by Shetland standards the Burrastow House is ideal. Located on a very picturesque headland overlooking Vaila Sound and some small islands this is a large and very quirkily laid out Victorian style house. Getting there is a beautiful drive across the main island from Lerwick where you eventually get to the hamlet... More

If you want a few days of absolute peace and tranquillity, visit Burrastow House. Right on the side of a sea loch, watch the birds, otters and seals from your window a truly magical experience. We stayed two nights and could have managed many more, Pierre fed us very well (and us gluten free too!), you don't get any choice... More

If you are looking for a comfortable stay in an out of the way location, this is the spot. With very comfortable, well appointed bedrooms, outstanding food, and the possibility of seeing an otter outside your door, Pierre and Margareth looked after us beautifully. Be prepared to eat a fixed meal at 7.30 and you won't be disappointed. Thoroughly recommended... More
