We knew we were in the country when the single lane road led to Boreland. Amidst the cows and sheep this farm was a great place to pause in our trip. Breakfast in the family kitchen was a special treat. Phillipa and Simon shared great food and family time with us.

Simply echo what the other reviews have said. A beautiful, peaceful spot. Would really recommend it. Bedrooms are in an annex opposite the farmhouse. We had a lovely, comfortable family room which was a great size and we were able to take our dog too. Very welcoming and relaxed breakfast in the farmhouse with great food. Would definitely go again.

What a beautiful spot to stay, unfortunately we only had one night at Boreland farm, but was given a very warm welcome by Phillipa and Simon on our arrival which was quite early in the day, the rooms were exceptionally large, very comfortable and well appointed and the shower was the best shower in scotland. The bed was very comfortable... More

With a meeting booked for early Monday morning in Dumfries I had no option but to drive up from Surrey on the Sunday afternoon. I love the Scottish countryside so took the opportunity to book somewhere that was right in the middle of it. I only stayed one night there and in my trip which took in 3 different overnight... Very remote but beautifully located farmhouse b&b run by a lovely family. On booking you are given a set of directions from Dumfries which unless you know the area prove invaluble. The rooms are big and well equipped (the shower is fantastic), not the cleanest rooms if I'm brutally honest but then this is a working farm so no big... More

We chose Boreland Farm because we wanted somewhere really quiet and it WAS! Lovely, very large room, huge comfortable bed and lots of extras like books and a variety of dvds to relax with. Great breakfast and plenty of brochures and help as to what to do during the day. It is indispensable to have a car though as restaurants... More

This B&B is set in an amazing location and we had such a warm welcome when we arrived. We stopped here as part of our honeymoon on the way to Loch Lomond. The room was very spacious and clean with a very nice bathroom (great shower!). Lots of nice touches in the rooms. Also we had come from a wet... More

Researching Thomas Carlyle, I found this b&b in proximity, it seems Carlyle was from this area and wrote for 5 years at an estate called Craigenputtock. I am a traveler without car, so they lent me a bicycle, and each day I went off in my search for inspiration. To get to the B&B, I took a bus to Wallaceton,... More

Beautiful B&B facilities (renovated old dairy barn, adjacent to the farmhouse) on a family farm. View from bedroom window is amazing - perfect southern Scotland (hills, dry stone dykes and sheep aplenty!) Warm, friendly, cosy, relaxed, welcoming - would highly recommend it!

We stayed at Boreland Farm for two nights whilst we where doing a small tour. The welcome you get is warm and sincere, and straight away you know nothing is too much trouble for the Barnes family. The accomodation is clean, spacious and comfortable. (The biggest bed I've ever seen). The farm is spot on for walkers, tourers, fishermen and many others.... More
