Loved the inn the moment we saw it...wish we hadn't been so tired and it was so late as we would loved to have checked out the wonderful Whiskey Bar....the owner is very personable and you can tell he cares about the comfort of his guests. We met the wonderful dog and even the cat let us pet him....The room... More

The headline tells it all! So many different whiskies to try, and a lot of specials too👍👍 We tried a couple together with Some Great barfood. I had the soup of the day with sandwiches- absolutly brilliant. Not a bad thing they're showing live football too!

My wife and I called in on this establishment on our way past the small town of Ballygrant. The restaurant is part of the pub/bar at the guest house. the barman was very "offish" from the start of our visit. Other guests already in the bar area were being served at their tables, but we were obliged to order our... More

Stayed in the Ballygrant Inn last week while visiting the Islay Show. It was a delightful experience. David and his son make you very welcome and the added bonus of them winning Whisky Bar of the Year created a great atmosphere in the place. Was fortunate to stay while the curry and a pint night was on and I can... More

The signs at the roadside and outside the inn declare wonderful coffee and baking - not at 10.30 on a Saturday morning, however! Having rung the bell at reception, the chef appeared from the kitchen and went away again, sending a younger man to deal with us. No fancy coffees (eg latte) available as the coffee machine was not up... More

I was booked into the Ballygrant Inn whilst over on Islay on business. The rooms are of a very good standard, clean tidy, spacious and the decor is modern. The customer service was excellent, with the owners being friendly and very helpful. The food was superb! I would definitely come back here again!

We were very badly received by the son of the boss, he showed us the room without explanation. Toilet to share with other rooms. So we went to eat at night in Port Askaig where the reception was much nicer just to some information. At breakfast, the boss was much more welcoming and offers a "Scottish Breakfast" that stalls for... More

What a fantastic 2-night stay at the Ballygrant Inn. The room was very nice and the service was excellent. In particular the breakfasts are superb....fresh fruit salads, cereals, excellent scrambled eggs. David went out his way to get us a breakfast before we had to leave early for the ferry at Post Ellen. And massive congratulations on winning the Whisky... More

It was a rather late arrangement for a holiday, and accommodation in the seaside parts of Islay was all booked up, so I tried the Ballygrant Inn, and they had space. Our room was in the newly converted extension, and the facilities were excellent - it was warm and comfortable, although the electric shower needed a little experimentation to get... More

We arrived at 2pm on a raining miserable day after being rained off our campsite on the mainland at 6am. We had booked weeks in advance for 2 nights at £100 PN. I hoped myself 64, my son 42 my granddaughter 8 and the dog could find somewhere warm to sit. I asked if our room was ready to the... More
