Having visited many European countries over the years, I find Stalheim a "must" every time I'm in Norway. This was my husband's first time in Europe and Stalheim was his favorite place of all the beautiful places we visited. I see that others feel that the rooms are somewhat dated. From my point of view, this is the real Europe.... More

This historical Stalheim Hotel itself is an attraction to visit. Breathtaking view from the hotel to the valley. Hotel staff are all friendly and welcoming. Very nice organized dinner and breakfast. The rooms are nicely decorated and most of them have nice view. Wifi (free) is only available in hotel lobby area.

Very outdated room. wifi from lobby area only made it a nuisance to use wifi. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and from all over Europe. Great chance to learn about other countries. The rooms were average with great heated bathroom floors with a bathtub. The food was disappointing and expensive-and you really couldn't go ANYWHERE else close by to... More

Wish we could have stayed even longer! Basically, this hotel is sitting atop one of the numerous waterfalls in a fjord area valley. Large family room was fantastic, and you don't need an A/C because it was frosty cold at night. Ask the front desk to fit you in to the busy restaurant with its' famous buffet. Only drawback is... The hotel is very large and apparently hosts several tour groups. There had been some kind of error or misunderstanding regarding our booking, but I don’t know if it was caused by Booking.com or by Stalheim hotel. When we arrived the receptionist claimed that our booking contained one double and one single room, but I had only booked one double... More

Nice enough but not worth the money...Dated with no wifi except in the lobby which is unacceptable for a 1800 NOK per night room...No Tv in the room -food average...when we were there we had company of 150 or so chinese..so I would recommend to come for a coffe and enjoy the views but save yourselves some money and stay... While on a family tour with a group of 29 cousins, we stopped at Stalheim while traveling from Bergen to Balestrand, Norway via Voss . The Nærøydalen valley, which is one of the most spectacular scenic views in all of Norway, was also the birthplace of two of my cousins great grandmother Caroline Heimri. It was also my 74th birthday... More

Stayed for 4 nights in July/Aug 2015. Hotel is in a fantastic location with incredible views.. It's in a period style, lots of antiques in the public areas, nice ambiance. Breakfast was ok, although not as good as some other hotels we used in Norway and certainly not upto standard for the room rate, similarly, basics such as complementary coffee,... More

We stay there Aug 5, 2015. The room is small. But it is in the middle of mountain region you can't expecting too much to offer. The room 246 had been labeled as "A room with a view"! If you are lucky enough to get that room it will be unforgettable experience. The first floor lobby also has a great... More

The only redeeming asset of this hotel is the view, which they pimp out to a never-ending stream of tour buses. The buffet dinner is awful and very expensive. Two members of our party elected to skip dinner entirely rather than pay $50 per person for food on par with the average U.S. high school cafeteria. To add insult to... More
