Kersefontein house was built in 1744 by the Melck family - and a direct descendent, Julian Melck, now runs it as a working farm and guesthouse. Its a real Cape Dutch house, with lovely outbuildings, some done up as guest rooms to a very high standard, some mouldering picturesquely away. You can swim in the river - but be careful... More

This was our second stay at Kersefontein Guest Farm and although it had been a few years since our first visit it was just as enjoyable. We stayed in the Madras Violet room which had a lovely big comfortable bed, comfortable sitting area and massive bathroom. We stayed on a DB&B basis, breakfasts are really tasty and filling and set... More

This is our second time back to Kersefontein and we had a wonderful time! Our 4 kids loved being on the farm, milking the cows, feeding the lambs, riding their bikes and playing rugby & cricket with Farlem & Rowan. Julian as always we had a fantastic time, meals were delish all around. Till next time, the Zacks family.

Having returned after many years, nothing as regards the hospitality shown by our host, Julian, has changed. A gentleman farmer with unending generosity. The farm and all that goes with the stay is like taking a journey back to a more gentile and luxurious age. Time slows and one is forced to forget the rush of life and settle into... More

Kersefontein might not be for everyone but it was certainly perfect for us. Julian is a most amusing host and the relaxed atmosphere of the property belies the attention to detail behind the scenes. The rooms are pretty and clean, mosquito nets and beds turned down at bedtime, excellent food in the beautiful old Cape Dutch Farmhouse and a lovely... More

I'm not sure why there have been so few trip advisor comments on this place. It was our second visit and we were again not disappointed. The place is very shabby sheik, no wifi no tv and you wander around amongst pigs, sheep, ducks and chickens. This historical farm has been in the same family for over 250 years and... More

I've been now a couple of times to Kersefontein and it's always like coming home! Julian, the owner is a real character who gives you from the first moment you meet him a warm welcome to his very special home ! He can tell great storys and like to play the Bösendorfer piano after dinner like someone who earns his... More

If you are looking for a relaxed week end in the country and you want to be taken back in time, this is really the place to be! Comfortable, great food and a great host...who took me horse riding for the first time in my life. Thank you for a special week end!

Its been 15 years since I visited Juilan and Kersefontein. Never again will it be so long - This is what Cape hospitality is all about. We were staying in the Gate Cottage - which is away from the main farm buildings, but even they are a treat. This farm is heavy on character, don't go expecting just another break... More

We have been visiting kersefontein with our family for the last 16 years now. Even though we travel frequently to all corners of the world, this is the one place we've been drawn back to again and again. The attraction lies mainly in the combination of the peaceful surroundings of this magnificent farm on the unspoiled West Coast, north of... More
