I stayed hear for a wedding up the road and was really pleased. The double room was clean, tidy and had more space then I expected. Importantly for me it also had a very very comfy bed and nice powerful shower. I had breakfast both mornings and it was good size and great tasting so thanks to the chef. As... More

I've never been to Stainforth before, but I'll certainly come again to stay at this pub. Beer is excellent, the food is too. The room was very comfortable. The new owners have obviously tried hard and succeeded to make it a good place to stay. The location is great too, next too a stream. If we hadn't been on a... More

My friends and I called into this pub whilst on our camping trip. I have never been made to feel so unwelcome, staff made all of our group feel like we were intruding, we had planned on staying to eat but after the frosty reception we recieved decided to take our custom else where. Won't be going back

My parents have recently moved up to Stainforth from Huddersfield and this is their new local. Me and my partner have been a couple of times and are never let down for quality of food and service. I ordered the steak & Stilton pie with chips and veg, it was stunning. The hint of cheese with the pie softens the... More

We have stayed here for 4 times each under different landlords, this time they seem to have got it right! The rooms are good and clean, and the food was superb we have a dog which was welcomed in the room by given it's own dog mat! A very good base for walking reasonably priced good value

What a great pub to start and finish the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. Stayed for two nights. The food, drink and room were great and the hosts Andrew and Maureen were lovely and friendly. If you are in the area it's well worth calling in and trying the menu. I'm sure it won't be our last visit

The location is excellent and the food very good. I had steak and Stilton Pie and the chips are proper ones! Bedroom newly done and good. But what made it was the landlord getting up at 5.45am making us fresh ham sandwiches from home roasted ham and getting us breakfast because we had to go at 6.30 am

We were two couples walking The Dales High Way and arrived at Craven Heifer in Stainforth rather late in the day. Landlord and wife were quick to give us rooms and rescheduled our dinner reservation without fuss. One room was of quite good standard, the other only had a ceiling window. Welcoming hospitality tray and fresh milk made available. We... More

A really welcoming pub, bustling warm and friendly.we arrived at 7pm for drinks before eating. The landlord and landlady were very hands on and were working very hard to ensure the bar and restaurant ran smoothly. There were beautiful log fires in the dining room and the lounge. Customers arriving with dogs were very welcome and NO MUSIC!! Such a... More

I use the Craven Heifer regularly as I have a caravan at Knight Stainforth. Andy and Maureen have tenanted the pub for some 18 months now and have turned it around. It truly is a village pub in a rural area. They cook excellent food, the bedrooms are clean, warm and comfortable, and they genuinely go out of their way... More
