We visited Fairshaw Rigg when it first opened a few years ago - and glad to say it is still one of our favourite B&Bs. Paul and Kathryn are extremely welcoming and the accommodation and breakfasts remain superb. There is always something going on around the farm - with a now bigger herd of specialist alpacas to observe. During this... More

We arrived in Northumberland having never been, such beautiful countryside I can't believe we've never visited before. We arrived early & were shown immediately to our room. Katherine, one of the owners was very welcoming. The room was lovely, warm & very comfortable. The breakfast was described as a Northumberland breakfast & boy it was tasty, the eggs came from... Our second visit to this wonderful B & B. We really feel now that we are friends with the owners. We LOVE the communal breakfast table & whilst it would not work everywhere it certainly does work here as it was good to talk to fellow guests about attractions & restaurants visited & recommended. Many thanks to Paul for taking time... Many thanks both for the great review - we are delighted you feel so at home - guests who return pay us the biggest complement possible! Kathryn is now well on the mend so things getting back to normal - Guinness may be a tadge lighter tomorrow as he - along with the rest of the herd - is getting... More

A faultless B & B, with excellent hosts, Kathryn and Paul. Spotlessly clean throughout, and in a scenic location above Hexham. Our only caveat would be that breakfast is served to all guests around the one table....so if you're used to your own space, or feeling less than sociable in the morning (see website picture)....tough! As bedrooms are fairly small,... More

Many thanks for your feedback - which we always take very seriously. Would have loved to debate some of them personally as written form can "make mountains...." On price - you would have been staying on a Bank Holiday if you paid £109 - we charge a £10 premium then and in our Superior Double. On facilities - these are... More

We stayed at Fairshaw Rigg for two nights with some German friends. The accommodation was excellent in every way. On arrival we were delighted with its situation, beautiful views of the Northumberland countryside. Paul and Kathryn were brilliant hosts, the rooms were beautiful with great attention paid to comfort and detail and the breakfast menu was extensive, catering for all... More

It was great to meet you and your German correspondents and so pleased you all seemed to enjoy the stay so much. I trust they enjoyed their onward trip into Scotland? Many thanks and hope to see you again. More

Had a really lovely stay in this wonderful B & B. Kathryn and Paul were excellent hosts. Nothing was too much trouble - booking table at local pub. Giving advice on where to eat and recommending places to visit. The breakfasts were delicious - served in their beautiful orangery. Room was very comfortable - everything had been thought of to... Thanks for your great review - Little Guinness is now 5 weeks old and is flourishing - he has doubled his birth weigh and thinks he owns the paddock. Glad you enjoyed the local restaurants - we really are blessed with a great choice and real quality, both in Hexham and the surrounding towns and villages. Thanks again and hope... More

I can't say enough good things about Fairshaw-Rigg and Paul and Kathryn! We spent two days there while exploring Hadrian's Wall the end of March. I had great expectations as my best friend had recommended staying there and not only was I not disappointed but even more impressed. The room was perfect, the alpaca duvet simply divine, and the whole... More

Glad we lived up to Min's recommendation and really enjoyed hosting you both. Magic and Lily are very popular with guests - and they are in their element if someone throws the ball for them:-) Trust the rest of your tour went well and do look us up if you are ever over again? Many thanks More

Chosen from reviews on here and they were spot on. Lovely couple, very nice rooms (3 in total) and a really warm welcome from Paul and Kathryn. An excellent eating pub about 10 mins drive away, a good night's sleep under the local Alpaca's quilt with a supreme breakfast. Worked out a little more expensive than planned as had to... More

We have stayed with Kathryn and Paul once before so, when planning a trip to do some bird-watching on the Northumberland coast and some star-gazing at the Kielder Observatory, we didn't need to browse for other B & Bs, simply return to their lovely place. And we weren't disappointed. Paul and Kathryn are maintaining their high standards in a lovely... More

Excellent location for Hadrian's Wall and other historic sites. Kathryn and Paul were very welcoming and did everything you'd expect to make our stay enjoyable. Delicious breakfasts with home made bread, and an extremely clean and well appointed room. It's difficult to find fault and, believe me, I'm very picky. Highly recommended.
