The Lion d'Or, an old coaching inn, lies in the heart of this sleepy country town, and was once the county town of the Solange. The town is easily explored with one or two good wooden-framed houses and a major car museum. The hotel retains its historical past while at the same time carrying modernisation without any difficulty. In several... More

Many thanks for visiting us and taking time to share your experience on Tripadvisor. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay with us, we are indeed a family business running through the 3rd generation of hosts. (And Romorantin is still the county town of Sologne ;-)) Looking forward welcoming you for an other Loire Valley vacation. Best regards. Helene... More

Magnificent stay in this beautifully decorated hotel. Very friendly staff, perfect appointments. Unfortunately the restaurant is quite disappointing. A little too ambitious for people who really understand sophisticated food. Food comes out a bit tepid which doesn't help. Some of the young and inexperienced waiters and waitresses in the restaurant need additional training. Service in the hotel is very good.... More

Dear Catherine, Thank you for staying at our hotel. We are very happy you enjoyed our hotel and staff but also surprised about your comment on our michelin star restaurant as we use real local produces and real food, we don't understand what you didn't understand. Concerning the young waiters and waitresses in the restaurant, are you sure you are... More

this was a total rip off - E180 for one night. room was awful, really hard to access up and down some rickety steps that had about ten different types on carpet on like a patchwork quilt. room decoration and linen was dated and old. carpet needed replacing and the curtains needed cleaning. bathroom was horribly outdated - bright pink... Sir, Thank you for staying at out hotel. I am so sorry you had such a bad experience with us. My family and me stayed here 1 night while we were traveling to the south of France. The hotel is in the centre of the small city. The entree and the rooms are really up to a renovation. we paid more than 500 euro for a room which was waiting for a good renovation already for years. This room was... More

We have been using this hotel for many years. The welcome is always warm, the rooms are comfortable and the restaurant superb. It is particularly pleasant to eat out in the courtyard on a summer evening. The food is interesting, the portion sizes sensible and the service immaculate. Here is a chef of great experience and ability who is still... More

We had the pleasure of staying in the grand hotel lion d'or in the little town of Romorantin 8 years ago, and we were captivated by the fine cookery of the great chef and owner Mr Didier Clement as well as by the graciousness and hospitality of his lovely wife. This year , when they celebrate their 50th anniversary of... More

The food was divine, the wine list incredible and the service was very friendly and efficient. The room was very practical and very clean, bathroom had all you needed. The breakfast, that we chose to have in the room was very generous, everything was fresh (juice and fruit salad) and the pastries and jams were excellent! Bravo and thank you!
