The Statt has a great location in the middle of Katrineholm, a small industrial town one hour from Stockholm and the hometown of former Prime Minister Göran Persson. It takes maybe two minutes to walk from the railway station. The building itself is (I guess) early 1900s, charming and inviting. However the rooms are disappointing, it feels like the interior hasn´t been refurbished since the 1970s and some of the worst features of Swedish 70s design are still present, like the horrible wall-to-wall carpeting. As expected from 30-40 year old stuff, furniture and wooden details are visibly worn and some paint has fallen off. The technical infrastructure is ancient, the TVs are acceptable but what takes the cake is the guest computer in the lobby, at least 7-8 years old with a flimsy CRT screen. They do have wi-fi though and it works OK. The restaurant looks a little more modern and updated but the breakfast was obviously below average, limited choice and questionable quality... more
