Corinna was really helpful with sorting out an airport pick up for us and he was there waiting for us when we arrived. He stopped off for coconut drinks and tapas and various other lovely things along the way with no extra charge to us. On The Rocks itself is a brilliant place to stay with gorgeous views and closer... More

Very friendly and helpful staff. Someone is always available. Airport pick up and drop off. Hotel is in a beautiful location (prepare to climb a lot of steps). Rooms are fantastic with great views, large v.comfortable beds. Food is good but could do with bigger portions. Arranged jungle trek for us. The guide that they got for us (hari) was... More

Great rooms, immaculate with good views. Pricier than down the hill but worth it if you are up for splurging for a few nights. Loved the coffee, loved the staff, loved my guide Harry. Worth it to do an overnight jungle trek. Ask for Harry and tip him well at the end, he is so knowledgeable and will take good... More

Lovely bungalows, each very secluded. There is a long walk from the rest of the village, but it is worth it. Because of the fact you wont want to walk down to the other restaurants however, the food is over-priced and had no flavour. The staff are lovely and very friendly. It is not worth doing a trek here, if... More

On the Rocks was fairly good in responding by email when I set up the stay and the jungle trek for one night. The bed in the room was comfortable; the cold shower was a surprise, but we had to survive it. The trek guide (Harry) was very good, and we did enjoy seeing a number of orangutans. BUT.... the... Hello Guest, we are not surprised to get this review. You stayed at our place with the writer of the poor review. One family, 4 person. We expect that the other family members will also write a review soon. We wanna give you the same advice: DON'T LIE. Just be fair! Are you serious? A staffer told you that we... More

We were deeply disappointed by our experience. First, the positives: the rooms are comfortable, the grounds are attractive, the food (when it finally arrives) is quite good. The guide (Harry) whom they arranged for our one-night trek was excellent. Now, the negatives: Wawan and Corinna, the proprietors, seemed only interested in sucking tourists dry with inflated prices and subpar services,... More

Hello Guests, First of all, we accept critics, but we DON'T accept LIES. DON’T LIE ABOUT OUR WIFI: We don't have to pay a bill to a provider for WIFI/internet. This is a audacious lie. We add credit to a sim card. We just had to buy new credit in the village. Waiting time was 30 minutes. Afterwards your father... More

Myself and 3 others stayed here for a a few days including a jungle trek over new years eve and could not speak any more highly of every aspect of our visit. Firstly the location; nestled perfectly on top of a picturesque hill surrounded by the jungle and all the elements that make this a destination to travel to, the... More

On the Rocks is a wonderful place and the BEST option in Bukit Lawang, especially if you plan to do a jungle trek. It lies up on the hill which means you have to walk 15 Minutes straight up, but it is definitely worth the effort. From up there you have a wonderful view over the surrounded landscape and from... Having just come from a 5* hotel in Medan, we weren't sure how this was going to compare but I can honestly say it was better! Our room was beautiful, an authentic clean and spacious hut set on stilts with a relaxing hammock looking out into the jungle. The jungle trek arranged by the hotel was one of my most... More

We stayed there for 4 nights and it was the best experience in Sumatra island. Their bungalows are just amazing!!! There are a comfy bed with mosquito net, a huge balcony with a hammock, wooden chairs and table, bathroom with toilet and shower with its tap made from a coconut :) Located atop of the rock you can experience staying...
