We went to green hill for 5 days and booked a treetop bungalow. The bungalow is a jungle bungalow, with monkeys on your balcony and lizards on your roof, don't expect a lot of luxury. The staff was very friendly. The discovery track was amazing, you should really book your jungle track here.

We spent 3 wonderfull days in Bukit Lawang at this guesthouse. The views are superb, the rooms are basic but all you need is there. The team that Andrea has put together is really great. They are fun guys, they set a great relaxed ambiance and also treat you to some nice live guitar music :). Andrea recommended the 2... More

The staff was very friendly and helped us organize the 2 days trekking in the jungle of Sumatra , to see the orangutans The room is basic , and at night you must install either the net for mosquitoes, bathroom very uncomfortable and no wifi. The good part is the breathtaking view across the valley, from our room; and the... More

We booked here primarily because of the alternative trekking options outside of the busy Bukit Lawang area which is predominantly semi wild primates (and lots of humans!). This area is great for a virtually guaranteed close up Orang Utan encounter but quite touristy. That said it would be great for the less adventurous or those with kids as it is... More

We didn't stay at this guest house, but Green Hill arranged a private 1-day trek in Bukit Lawang and river rafting for us. The experience was one of a kind. The result was 5 orangutans, 7 Thomas monkeys, a peakock, and 2 lizards, and lots of great memories. Although the trek is not cheap in Bukit Lawang, don't refuse it.

My first time in Sumatra and Green Hill helped make it a great introduction to the rainforest. I stayed for 6 days as a stop off back to the UK from Australia. It is about 4 hours from the airport, but 6 days was just about the right amount of time to acclimatise, chill out in the garden of Eden... More

Had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing 4 days at Green Hill. Was picked up at Medan Airport by friendly shuttle driver. Whilst the transfer to BK took 6hr (if you think traffic is bad, head to Medan) and I did not arrive till 10pm, the guys at the guest house were still up and even rustled up an omelette for... More

I went to Bukit Lawang for 2 nights. Green hill were great - they organised everything from airport pick up in Medan, to the room, and a trekking tour to see the orangutans. The rooms are basic by western standards - you have a bed with a mosquito net (didnt need air con), a cold shower from a bamboo pipe,... More

I stayed at a couple of places in Bukit Lawang and this is the best place to stay in town. WE SAW ORANGUTANS from the balcony whilst enjoying a breakfast curry and beer! Andrea, the owner has a MSc in Primate Conservation and is a wealth of knowledge. This property is in the heart of town, about 15-20 minute walk... More
