This was our first stop in Indonesia. Best price/experience we found our whole trip. Food is great, staff is great. The first night we stayed in a big room with private bathroom; wow! (don't expect hot water out there). The next nights we stayed in a smaller room with shared bathroom, still very nice. The jungle trek is awesome. They... More

It's really hard to give a review on this hotel.. We stayed there one night, and I must say that during the day this place is absolutely charming. The restaurant offers a great view on the small river, and the staff played guitar et sang while we had dinner, which is one of the best memory we have of our... More

Dear Guest: thanks for taking the time to write a review and allowing us to respond to your points. It would appear that you really liked Green Hill but your main reasons for giving us a very low score for rooms/cleanliness/sleep quality was that you saw some bugs in your room and a 'giant' lizard. This seems a rather curious... More

Brought me to and from the bus stop for no extra charge. Very friendly people. They helped me arrange further travel plans. Seemed like a 'normal' price for the room standard. The dinners were awesome! They were the best meals I had had in a long time. Nice work! They assured me that they could arrange a trek for me... More

I stayed here for 4 nights. Unfortunately my bag went to Bangkok by mistake and Air Asia said I would have to collect it from Medan (3-4 hrs one way) myself. The staff were brilliant in ensuring I relaxed and made the best of the situation whilst unknown to me they were working behind the scenes to get me my... More

Wow this was the first place we stayed in Sumatra and by the time we left, I knew that Green Hill and Bukit Lawang would be a hard act to follow! The A team refers to Pandi, Karim, and Daddy Cool absolutely brilliant staff, nothing too much trouble and I can not rate them highly enough. I would employ them!... More

My partner and I stayed for two nights in the 'basic room' at Green Hill, which was indeed very basic but also charming with a great view of the jungle. The room is open to the air so it almost feels as though you're sleeping in the jungle. Good food, a very laid-back vibe, four tiny kittens running around squeaking... More

Dear Mel, thanks for taking the time to write a review and pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. With regards to trekking: perhaps had you memtioned when booking that you wished to trek with Mbra we could have arranged that for you. Great place, amazingly friendly service, I fell in love with how helpful and friendly the people of bukit lawang were with me and my friends. The Room was really great with an awesome balcony view of the river for a ridiculously cheap price. I'm lost for words still.

We've stayed for 4 nights at Green Hill. One of these nights we slept in the jungle, as part of our 2-day jungle trek. The trek was amazing, seen 3 orangutans and also some other animals. The guides were really great and helpful. We've had so much fun together! Our stay at the guesthouse was really nice as well. The... More

I had emailed and reserved the budget room for 60,000 as I was trying to save some money. The room itself wasn't too bad and had a window (without any glass) and the bed was comfy. The room is right by the restaurant so I was worried about the noise but no one stays up too late in bukit lawang,... More

Bukit Lawang is a perfect place for chill out. The guesthouse is great, nice, basic bungalows, clean, nice bathroom and with great view on the river. Very friendly staff, helping organising treking, transfers and others. I would definitely come back :) the only thing that was not that great, was the food. I would recommend to have dinner at other... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Green Hill is in the heart of Bukit Lawang village, overlooking the Bohorok river with amazing views of the rainforest, easy access to Gunung Leuser National Park (GLNP) and only 10 minutes from the orangutan viewing platform. Green Hill was opened in 2008 and the new building was built by local craftsmen using a combination of wood and stones to create a very light and airy open plan space which has amazing views of the rainforest. The guest rooms at Green Hill are nestled amongst the treetops on the hill behind the restaurant: 3 bungalows (150-175,000 IDR) and a chalet/family room (250,000 IDR) all have private bathrooms with bamboo shower and balconies with jungle views. There is also a budget double with a shared bathroom (60,000) which can be converted to a dormitory style room with single beds. ... more   less
