There are several hotels along the beach in Esterillos Este and we decided to try another one and chose the Pelican Hotel and Restaurant. The owner Debby is very friendly as are all the staff especially Marcos, who seems to be the general manager, bar tender, etc. This hotel is not as fancy as some others on the beach but... More

I loved it here. The beach is just stunning - quiet, hardly anyone on it, the most beautiful sunsets. There are hammocks and swings to sit in, lots of shade. Scarlet macaws flying overhead. The bar has the best margaritas I've had...food is also good. My room was just lovely - bright, clean, newly painted, pretty bathroom. I saw a... More

I really enjoyed my stay here, I actually stopped in on my way to Quepos and made the point of coming back to stay. The beach was foot steps away, awesome and barely anyone there. The drinks were good and the rooms were adequate, simple, clean with hot water, pool, daily yoga and a frig. It was perfect for me and... More

I was at the Pelican at the end of January, had to travel alone, and was a little weary... The staff were super friendly, they would go out of their way to please and accommodate you. Debbie and Marcy, owner and co owner, were such fun ladies, they looked after me for the whole week, Marcy helped me and advice... More

We enjoyed a tropical drink by the beach at the hotel as we watched a beautiful sunset. The we moved to the restaurant for a great, reasonably priced meal as a light breeze from the Pacific kept the temperature just right. Fun to share travel stories with other guests from the US and Canada.

We had a wonderful time at El Pelicano in December. The food was fabulous and some of the staff were excellent (especially Jason, Paola and Paula the cook). Being right next to the beach really makes the place and I went for a walk every morning. The beach is much nicer than Jaco. My kids loved the waves and did... More

Location, location, location!! The Hotel and restaurant is just a few steps from the beach, great landscaping and good deck on the pool. We enjoyed a lot on the bar with the great staff and good food. The rooms are clean and comfortable, all with a balcony. For that high price, I would expect better breakfast, we only get fruits,... The price is great, staff were awesome and friendly and I loved the food. Great Beach! Best rum punch I've ever had, and I recommend the curry chicken. We want to go back again soon. A great place to relax and unwind for a few days or weeks. Some serious tranquility was had by all. Only one critique: Breakfast doesn't... More

We stayed in Jaco when we should have come down here. We parked here to explore the beach because we heard there were surf board rentals here. There aren't really, but the bartender Marco helped arrange for a local guy to deliver a surf board for $20 in an hour or two. After we went surfing we used their showers,... More

This is a really great place, and I already came back to Pelicanos for the second time. Just one minute from your hotel room to the Pacific (at least when there is high tide). And you can have a kilometer of beach on your own... Simple but clean and nice rooms, great and reasonably priced food and extraordinarily friendly and... More

Pelican Beach Front Hotel is your perfect Costa Rican get away! With its colorful decor and friendly staff this boutique hotel sits on the ‘Riviera of the Central Pacific.’ Because of the unique geographic positioning of our 11-mile long, chocolate-colored sand beach, this is one of the a few places in the world where you can enjoy amazing sunrises and beautiful sunsets as well.  It’s where the jungle meets the sand, and you’re right in the middle of it. Relax on the beach or let our staff help you plan a day filled with adventure: zip lines, canopy tours, surfing lessons, waterfall tours, catamaran cruises, mangrove monkey tours, sports fishing, kayaking, horse back riding, massage or yoga classes, and so much more! Afterward, return to our beachfront paradise for the Daily Sunset Happy Hour. Our casual patio restaurant is open 7am until 10pm to serve you breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our varied menu includes the best coconut curry on the planet.
