We stayed at the Kastallet as we were going to a wedding in Vauxholm. We took the boat (which is free if you stay) from pier 9 to the Kastallet. It is a 3-4 minute journey. The Kastallet is imposing but once you get in it is really homely, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. We did not know what to... More

Nice stay and friendly staff. Great for exploring the archipelago. Access to Waxholm in the evening was an issue with nothing available after about 5pm. Also need to provide better WiFi, or not advertise it at all. We could not rely on the wifi to work properly which is frustrating when you need it for work.

Good rooms, but poor fary connections. We had a relaxing time with good possibilties for lots of reading and sleeping. The breakfast is alright, but wake up early if you want the good stuff. Difficult and ekspensive to park in Vaxholm.

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor Many guests who book through tour companies have difficulty understanding how the boat traffic to the Citadel works. There are regular ferries from morning to night. Booked room via Kastellet Bed & Breakfast website also includes additional boats that run every 20 minutes during the summer between 11 and 17 days and 21:50... More

The B&B looks great, it was fun to sleep in a fortress, it is clean, calm and serves an excellent fresh, diversified breakfast. I was there with my husband and our baby and the owners were very helpful making our stay very pleasant..

Spent a night here in late May, so just before the Swedish tourist season really kicks off. The citadel is lovely, particularly good if you have a partner who is keen on naval history. The B&B itself is very nicely set up. We had a spacious double with a view over the water but it was not en suite. The... More

I didn't know what to expect when I booked this B&B, but it is a real castle! Sitting on an island a hundred yards from the nice little village of Vaxholm -- less than an hour from downtown Stockholm -- it's surprisingly comfortable, and the breakfast is simply delicious. The hostesses are very kind and courteous and were helpful in... More

We had the pleasure of staying at this hotel and found it very enjoyable, relaxing and a wonderful retreat to come back to at night. The breakfasts were wonderful and everything was very clean and well kept. The window views were charming as you look out and can watch the swans swimming in the Baltic Sea.

We stayed two nights at the Kastellet, the island B&B near Vaxholm. It was the largest room I have had in Europe in ages, very clean and very well run, but for the price we paid (around $285 per night) to have the bathroom down the hall and have to share it with three other rooms, the price seemed high... This is a rare chance to stay on a small island and in an impressive citadel. This is without doubt a well-run B&B, with good clean rooms and comfortable beds and wonderful views around the archipelago near Vaxholm, yet away from the crowds. We arrived soon after 2 p.m. and picked up the keys which had been left for us,... More

A wedding weekend to remember, for all the right reasons. If your not worried about sharing your bathroom. You will enjoy this unusual location. Vaxholm Castle has beautiful views. Not forgetting to visit Vaxholm itself just a two minute boat journey away in this beautiful country of Sweden.
