This is our second time staying at Chateu de Pray, the last time was 15 years ago. This time we brought our two teenage children and found that the cottage was the perfect solution versus having to get two rooms. The breakfast here is amazing and the pool was remarkably refreshing.

Hotel de Pray is comprised of two parts - the Chateau and a converted building (stable?) that is known as the pavilion. We stayed in the Chateau. As noted by others - the town of Amboise is a bit away. Our rooms were lovely (see photos) and clean. The rooms in the Chateau have AC, a safe, bottle of water,... More

Not the easiest to find but Chateau de Pray is a pretty hotel with attached excellent restaurant. We stayed in a "petit chambre" which lived up to its name but which was comfortable, well appointed and characterful. It would have got 5 stars but we were offered no help with bags and a nice cup of tea or coffee on... More

First time visit, chosen as a change from our 'regular' hotel, nearby. A good location, slightly trick to find. An attractive, characterful building & setting, though attention to detail lacking at times - the outside area/garden for example. Room is a touch dated, without air con - no problem as weather not too warm. Good service though the staff struggled... More

Having stayed at the Chateau previously over ten years ago and having eaten at the restaurant many years ago, I was keen to try it again. We booked the restaurant via the Internet. We were not disappointed. Dinner was served on the terrace where we could watch the sun go down. We decided to eat a la carte so chose... More

It is everything it claims to be. Wonderful room and grounds. Our only complaint is no food or drink in the rooms. We like to have coffee when we wake but had to wait till breakfast. Also, we like to have a snack in the late afternoon but because of the policy of no food in the rooms because of... More

This hotel in a real castel is a wonderful retreat: Charming atmosphere, big swimming pool, nicely furnished rooms, great restaurant (worth a detour). The service is friendly, not over-friendly. The breakfast is OK, could be a little bit more sumptuous (regarding the standard of the hotel).

After a very long day of travel we were absolutely thrilled to pull up to Chateau de Pray. The main building and grounds are stunning and we were warmly welcomed when we walked in...as travel weary and disheveled as we were! The entire staff was lovely and friendly and spoke French to me, but English to my French-challenged family! We... More

We had been in Spain and southern France for nearly two weeks and had booked the romantic package with the idea that it would be one of the highlights of our trip. Oh dear! What a disappointment. The room was adequate but hardly romantic with a view over the car park. It lacked the touches that we would expect at... More

We were there the first week in June and it was as if we practically had the place to ourselves. Just wonderful--an absolute "find" and a good value. The service was first rate!!!! I would definitely stay there again. (The dinner we thought was just...good.)
