We stayed at Deodars for a few days last month and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It is a lovely old stone house with large, clean rooms - all with ensuite bathrooms. Our host, Richard Wheeler, was a fount of useful and interesting information about the history and geography of the area, and the food, cooked by his wife Elizabeth,... More

we stayed half a week with the Wheelers and had the most wonderful introduction to the Kumaon Hills. The view of mountains from the breakfast table was stunning and you could never get tired of it. My family all needed different things from this stay, walks through the hillside, peace and quiet for reading, and interesting views for painting. Deodars... More

I stayed with the Wheeler family at their charming Deodar cottage from March 5 - 8th, 2015 and had a fabulous time. The cottage, a 120 year old bungalow is so beautifully done, with pretty sunny sit outs, magnificent view of the snow peaks...it was sheer bliss. Richard and his gracious wife Elizabeth are so warm. and the home cooked... More

I have stayed here twice and wish I could have stayed longer and more frequently! It's an atmospheric, colonial home that it's owner Richard Wheeler and his gracious wife have opened up to visitors! The views of the Himalayan peaks is to die for, the bird life around is amazing and the meal times are something to look forward to... More

Richard and Elizabeth Wheeler are the most wonderful hosts you can imagine. Their beautifully preserved 150-year-old stone cottage is cosy and comfortable with lovely little homely touches and all the comforts of modern living. The food is absolutely terrific --Elizabeth is a gourmet cook, and it's hard to resist any of the ample delicacies on offer. Be prepared to gain... More

We stayed at the Deodars Cottage this past weekend (7-10 Sept, 2013). As there were no other guests so we basically had the cottage to ourselves. The hospitality is genuine and the food served is simply awesome (specially the continental dinners). We enjoyed every bit of our stay and it was indeed rejuvenating. Hats off to Elizabeth's culinary skills. We... More

We stopped here for one night en-route to Leti 360. We received a genuinely warm welcome from Richard and Elizabeth. The views from their garden are spectacular and I cannot think of a prettier place to enjoy the very ample and tasty breakfast provided. Dinner was excellent, a real tribute to Elizabeth's cooking skills and the portions were very generous.... More
