Our stay in Kumarakom was extremely pleasant, all thanks to the gracious hospitality and superb services provided by Mr. Salim Das and his professional staff of Illikkalam Lake Resort. Kumarakom is one of those places on earth where you go to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Get away from cars, traffic, pollution, city congestion, and leave... more

First of all, this is not really a resort. Its a group of cottages facing the lake. No doubt, they are quite close to the lake, about 30 feet away. We were two couples and booked two lake facing cottages. We came from a houseboat and arrived at 10 am, were told we need to wait till 12. Then the... more

We planned to stay for two days and cut it short by a day. I have stayed in better restorts at better prices. The management was arrogant. The resort is out of town and the road to get there is real bad. The rooms are dingy and bathrooms are clean but ugly. There is no beach. We can see the... more

Overall the place has an excellent location advantage and it feels great to relax on the lake front. But apart from that there isn't much else to do. We had originally planned a two day stay at this place followed by a day in a houseboat. We had made our travel bookings accordingly. But the day when we were to... more

This place is well worth a visit. You won't get to have a lakeside cottage for less than this. It was around R3000 for a 2bedroom cottage - the first time we've managed to have 2 bedrooms since travelling with the children - mostly a shared 3rd bed for them to top and tail! There are AC rooms and ceiling... more

You can't imagine how lovely this place is until you get here. In the middle of lots of fancy faceless resorts this is a real treat - and at budget rates. The staff are all friendly and can't do enough. You have uninterrupted views over the lake with your own terrace (with a fan - how thoughtful is that?) which... more

This place is absolutley beautiful. We stayed in a lake side cottage with a beautiful undisturbed view of the lake. Houseboats drifed past and birds sung in the trees-m a little bit of heaven! The staff were extrememly friendly and we had dinner and breakfast bought to us by the lake. Try the freshly produced organic vegtables and fruit from... more

This resort it cute and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful - always has a smile on their face. The location is great as it sits directly on the shores of the lake. I'd recomend it to any modest traveller looking for a pleasant, affordable accomdation. more

We had our second honeymoon to Kerala in December 2008. As a part we stayed in Illikalam lake resort for one night. It was a very first day of our trip that impressed us just because of this resort. Positive points: Resort is exactly on the bank of Vembanad Lake. Especially we have booked lake facing deluxe cottage which was... more
