We stayed at Ca Gioiosa for 6 nights. This area of Italy is an underappreciated area and Fiona Dunk the owner of Ca Gioiosa is a wonderful person to introduce you to the area. The B&B sits atop a hill in a lovely setting. The rooms are clean and provide everything a traveler needs. Breakfast is served each morning on... more

Everything you read here is true. Fiona is an amazing woman who will go out of her way (sometimes to extraordinary lengths) to help her guests. Three of us stayed 4 nights in late September/early October and enjoyed every minute. Her suggestions for activities and restaurants were spot on (including the nearby Agriturismo which was excellent), she personally took us... more

We spent 5 days with Fiona and if you have read the reviews you will already know that everyone who finds their way to this wonderful corner of Emilia Romagna falls instantly in love with the countryside, the convenience to the wonderful towns of Bologna, Ferara, Parma, Modena etc.. And yet be in the real country with vineyards, wineries and... more

Fiona, the owner, made the stay absolutely outstanding. During our planning phase she answered every one of my emails (and there were several) no matter what the subject. As a result we had a great four week visit in Italy of which one week was at Ca Gioiosa. We rented all three rooms of the B&B so we had total... more

The surroundings and location of the little guest house, with its cozy and charming three rooms, on top of a hill overlooking a valley amidst vineyards, little villages and close to parmesan cheese makers is magnificient and just what a city slicker needs to relax. We enjoyed the beautiful nature and quietness up there. Bologna, Parma, Modena, Ravenna and Ferrara... more

I stayed at Ca’ Gioiosa for 2 weeks during the second half of May 2009, as part of a family group. The property itself is clean, bright and cheery, with an appreciated ‘No smoking in the house’ rule. The décor is light-coloured and more to UK tastes than the dark-wooded interiors often found in Italian houses. The bedrooms are spacious... more

We stayed one night here in June 09 and could have stayed for a week. A very beautiful little B&B in the hills outside Bologna. Fiona, the owner, could not do enough for her guests and gave us free beers, snacks and lunch as soon as we arrived then did whatever she could to make us feel welcome. She even... more

Of all the hotels and B&B we ever visited, Ca Gioiosa and the owner Fiona, is at the very top! Beautiful areas, great restaurants and fantastic tours arranged by Fiona made us wish that our two night stay should last forever. We stayed at Ca Gioiosa over six months ago and we still talk about it every week. We will... more

From the moment Fiona encouraged me to sit on the delightful terrace over-looking the hills, with a cold beer in one hand and the delicious pasta lunch she had kindly made for me in the other, I knew I was in for a great few days. Tranquil, relaxing and fantastic service; this was the place for me! Just loved it. more

We spent 9 amazing days at Ca Gioiosa . We arrived in Bologna late, and got a bus to the train station. From there, the Hertz office was just across the street and around the corner. A quick 20 minute drive and we were there, she gave us the Navi coordinates (E11°03.149 N44°27.788), and it took us right there....just go... more
