I decided during my DIY "Norway in a Nutshell" tour, to jump off the ferry at Aurland. As it was a bit off season (early September), the hotel had heaps of availability! I got a single with a fjord-view balcony for a fairly reasonable rate (for Norway). My room had a rather lumpy bed, couch, table, chair, TV, bathroom and... More

This hotel was very clean and comfortable. The food in the dining room was very good and the complimentary breakfast was very generous. All of the staff were friendly and most helpful. The WiFi was a little glitchy but worked very well and fast in general. Aurland is in my opinion much more desirable to stay in than Flam. Flam... More

My husband and I arrived in Aurland at 10pm - after driving hours from Bergen and coming off two flights and they gave our room away. I reserved a room in advance. Am I supposed to check my email and voice mail while flying and driving all over Europe? Do i need to contact them day of to confirm a... More

This is an excellent hotel for the location it is in. First of all, if you are confused about where to stay in the Flam area, and are not a "cruise ship" traveler, do not stay in Flam. It is like being at Disney World, even if the hotels will be a bit nicer there. Aurland is a great alternative,... More

Arrived room was ready and guy on reception was switched on. Showed me were to leave my luggage the next day. I usually eat out if the option is available. Breakfast was very comprehensive. Hot cold sweet and savoury selection. Self serve buffet style but the breakfast chef keeps an eye on it. Only one thing tv could do with... More

I had a first floor room with a balcony. The view was stunning. As reflected in other reviews, the rooms are getting a little tired, but I slept extremely well, and had a sofa and arm chair which were both comfortable. Bathroom functional with an extremely powerful shower. I stayed for three days and ate in the restaurant each night.... More

We had room 402 on the top floor and it made all the difference. This is a friendly, cozy hotel with decent-size rooms, bath/shower combos with lots of water pressure and slightly too soft beds. But the view was spectacular and on the top floor you have total privacy-- we left the curtains open and let the late twilight put... More

Get the impression that owners are not investing in the upkeep of the hotel. Carpets are stained and worn. Sauna and steam room are no longer offered. Dining room is dark and dated. Service staff are friendly. Breakfast very good. We ate at Vangsgarden at the outdoor pavilion on the water. Limited menu and expensive as all of Norway, but... More

Aurland Fjordhotel is the place I would recommend to everyone who wants to experience the fjords. The village itself is very quiet and has numerous hiking trails with amazing views to offer. The staff in the hotel is exceptionally friendly - we felt at home. Some of the travellers count the absence of the elevator as a disadvantage, but the... More

We stayed at the hotel in late June for two nights at the start of a holiday We arrived late but we were given a lovely room with a small balcony overlooking the Fjord. Dinner with a few choices was available until around 9.30 and the fish course we chose was of a very good quality. Breakfast was more than... More
