After the spectacular Myrdal to Flam railway, we decided to avoid the tourist buses and cruise ships of Flam and took the local bus 10 km down the fjord to the small quiet town of Aurland. There we found the small family run Aurland Fjordhotell. This is an older style hotel. Our room was at the front with a balcony.... More

we were 2 families traveling the fjords and on our way to bergen. I called ahead and explain each family had 2 kids but all 4 kids are under 11. they insisted that we had to book an extra room for them because we would not get extra beds in the room. we used booking.com because it was where we... Our room was perfectly fine, with a large, clean bathroom, and OK bed and furniture. But it was the fjord view from the room's balcony that tips the scale for me. We had drinks on our balcony in the evening, and it was really one of the highlights of the trip. The breakfast was also memorable, with homemade options and... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Aurland Fjordhotel recently. It got the job done. Being in Aurland, the location is perfect. You can sit on the patio area out front of the hotel and just look at the majestic peaks. The area is very quiet. The room was clean and kind of had a fjord view if you looked at... More

We stayed 2 nights here and thought the location was perfect. It is a much nicer town than Flam if you want quiet and scenic beauty. The hotel was just okay. It was very clean and it had a pool table in the lobby area which my husband and son loved. However, the staff is not very welcoming or helpful... More

The fjord view from the balcony is magnificent. Personally I am willing to give the hotel 3 stars just for the view. But we had a terrible night staying here. First, we could not get any dinner because the restaurant was booked for an event. The only grocery store was closed and we could not find any restaurant in this... More

The hotel was quite full when we visited so we had a room at the back and only side views of the fjord. Even those views were great. The room was very comfortable and spacious with a lounge area. The staff were helpful although not always at reception. The hotel food could have been better but overall we had a... More

Lovely view but with no blackout curtain, only white curtain, very difficult for light sleepers to get proper sleep in Summer. Room is clean but basic with 2 single beds pushed together to form double bed, although this seems to be common in basic/average hotels in Norway. Breakfast was served in quaint cottage and was plentiful, but very Norwegian -... More

This is a 70s stopover type of hotel where you press a bell to get someone at reception, no lift to negotiate your way up to the fourth floor, and door keys rather than cards still in vogue, But i ain't complainin when i am mesmerised by the sweeping views of the fjords from my balcony. Never mind the very... More

I do NOT recommend this hotel for anyone. This was a lower standard than I am conformable with. This is the kind of hotel that has a pay lock on the bathroom in their own bar for the guests of the hotel. The worst thing was this: I forgot my laptop charger. I sent them an email asking if they... More
