This hotel supplies simple lodging in the smaller town of Aurland, which is a quieter alternative to the crowds in Flam. It's not fancy--for example, if you want a hair dryer, you ask the desk to borrow one--but it does the job. You can see the fjord from many rooms, and the hotel garden is very pretty. The restaurant is... More

The cottage was clean and looked fresh. The kitchen was well equipped. The view over fjord was amazing! Ships were passing by and a water seemed to touch the cottage - that was awesome! I felt as I were on a boat. We were there during a weekend, and there was a loud music in the restaurant next to the... More

Travelling through Norway off the main coastal route which brought us to the quaint town of Aurland. Visiting the Duehuset restaurant in Aurland we were hoping to find some authentic cooking which is proving quite hard to find in Norway. Quite disappointing food here, too. Sadly

The front desk staff is very helpful and friendly. The views from the inn are beautiful - and having the restaurant nearby is very nice at the end of a long day (order the trout! totally worth it!). Aurland is much more peaceful - no tour busses, etc. great stay!

Firstly the positives - location is amazing; right on the fjord, so most rooms have wonderful views. The breakfast was also very nice; something for everyone. Whilst the room itself was large, with a separate sitting area, it was fairly basic in most respects. The bathroom was essentially a small box; a curtain delineating the shower (a pet hate of... I booked the room with breakfast 4 month ago, and when they know we are 3 adults and a kid, they change the cabin for me,and make me the confirmation quickly. I asked a lot of questions, and Astrid reply me with patient. although, I have not arrived there yet, but I think they must be warm and helpful. Wish... More

We chose to split up the Norway in a Nutshell trip by spending the night in Aurland at Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri. We chose a cabin on the water with a great fjord view. The cabin was clean and comfortable. You have to make your own beds and we found stuffing the duvets to be a bit difficult. The breakfast was good... More

We were 2 families with 6 of us and booked 2 cottages. The place has a great view of the fjord and having a kitchen helped with us needing vegetarian options and cooking what we need The hotel has great hospitality and the host was really helpful We highly recommend the place for stay when visiting flam

We found Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri by chance, as no bookings were left in Flam, being on trip with Fjordtours.com ("Norway in a nutshell") A very nice family hotel, well furnished, with restaurant, where you will feel comfortable at home, in an outstanding and easy location. (on the edge of the fjord, only 1min. from the port, 5min. walking from a small... More

Very relaxed place and a perfect spot for exploring the surrounding area. The room was spacious and the furniture rather new - we particularly liked the fresh wooden smell. The guesthouse, which is family run, is surrounded by a cute garden, a nice bar/restaurant with a terrace overlooking the fjord (plan your meal for sunset time for a spectacular experience)... More
